You'll run it at high on playable framerates. it also really depends what res you run it at too.

med-high is my guess. But if you mess around with the configs you might go a bit higher and make the game look better as well.

With an AMD 4200+, 2GB ram and an 8800GTS 640, I play the game all on high at 1600x1200 with a steady 30-50FPS. Expect better.

You have to be overestimating your framerate, man.

http://www.tomshardware.com/charts/gaming-graphics-charts-q3-2008/Crysis-v1-21,748.html

Having seen your gameplay (from the one time you showed me), I can also tell you you're definitely not getting 30+. It really looks like it's about 25-30 average, 15-ish minimum.

Anyway, TC, you should manage all high at 1280x1024 if you have typical framerate standards.

Well, I don't know about any of that, but I was recording. You're down 10-15 at least when you record!

Yeah, when I record I drop like 20 fps.

Jn said that you said you don't get major framerate drops while recording.

In any case, I still believe you're exaggerating a bit. I mean, at the same settings as you but at 2X AA, my system gets like 35-40 realistic average and 25 minimum, maximums usually in the 50's and low 60's.

I say Bull**** I can't understand why people think this game is so impossible to run all you need is to optimize your PC these benchmarks are Bull****. My 6600GT ran crysis at 1650 all medium settings smooth framerates through the whole game don't tell me or throw any benchmark that says this guy can't get 30 frames.

Really? At that high of a resolution? My 8600GT can't get good framerates on everything medium on 1440x900 (my native resolution). I do have for Warhead everything on very high in dx10 (except shadows minimum, and shaders mainstream except for frozen part of game) at 800x600 and I get like 30-50 fps with minimum at around 20-25 and high as 65-70.

You're probably right that I'm exaggerating a little - I was actually guessing. I don't keep track of my frame rates. But regardless of the numbers, I play the game in a very smooth state (better than in the videos I assure you!) and the OP should expect better.

As for Jn, I'd need to see what he said exactly to know for sure, but I think he probably meant that I don't get drops compared to him. He has issues when recording. Just recording Sam and Max Season 1 gave his computer trouble, while I can record stuff like Crysis and still play on high - but not flawlessly.

I certainly do get frame rate drops when I record - and definitely in beefy games like Crysis. Not sure exactly how much it drops, but I could find out if you want.

First of all, calm down. Second of all, I never said it was impossible to run. Stop jumping at spectres. Third of all, the "optimizations" you'll often find on the web only free up memory and processor usage, and they make no difference if you don't have a low-end system (not to mention most of them are dangerous to use). And finally, I don't mean to sound confrontational, but I have no doubt that your framerate at those settings is lower than I or most others would be able to tolerate. Crysis is much more easily playable than many make it out to be, of course, but my old 3200+, 7900GT, and 2GB of RAM system just did manage to play the game with playable frames (30-35 average, 20 minimum) at 1024x768, all medium except sound and physics on high. So I know for certain it's not what I would call playable on your system.

Nah, that's okay. But maybe sometime you can tell me what your framerate is at the intro cinematic when the plane flies by the screen sometime (type "r_displayinfo 1" in the console to see your framerate, if you didn't already know). While my in-game framerate has never dropped below 25 at the aforementioned settings, that particular part of that cinematic is the most performance-intensive I've seen in the whole game, and I drop down to like 16FPS at the lowest there. I now use config tweaks to play the game in XP very high settings, with all very high except objects and shadows on high (and no AA now), and I get about 30-35 average and 23 minimum, but my framerate at the plane now drops down to 14.
