You have to take into account the differences in architecture between the pc and the xbox/ps. So if u wanted to emulate a really intense, specialized game like Resistance from ps3 onto a computer, there is no way any computer on the market right now that can match the power of the ps3s cores (and also the xbox360s) thus it is almost a given that performance will be lacklustre.
Judging by how non-amazing Resistance looks, if they converted it, i doubt it would run with any problem. You have to take into account the differences in architecture between the pc and the xbox/ps. Err. Are you sure no computer can match the power of the PS3?
PS3:
PC:
Judging by these screenshots, I think they can surpass them.
Not everyone has a computer that runs oblivion at high. Therefore for emulation to be possible, your computer has to be top off the line to meet and surpass console standards. Remember, there is no graphic options for console games!
it doesn't have to be TOP OF THE LINE......no, sorry.Fairly recent, sure. Not everyone has a computer that runs oblivion at high. my bad i didnt think this was a touchy subject w/ the mods.... um i hope i dont get banned...Slave4CKYou won't get banned, but you might expect a warning. Without a doubt, this thread will be locked and/or closed and deleted momentarily. It happens pretty frequently. I'd point out that it's a policy without a lot of merit, by the way. There's never been a single court decision or piece of legislation succesfully condemning console emulation, but the Gamespot mods are only human. Not everything they do makes sense.
[QUOTE="neonsuperstar"]it doesn't have to be TOP OF THE LINE......no, sorry.Fairly recent, sure. I agree. And for example, to run Gears of War on a pc, you'd need a 7900 or a x1900 with a nice dual core system to get a decent frame rate, and i dont think console games would scale very well (considering there are zero allowances for a not-so-good system). Basically, if i really wanted to play a console-exclusive game but had a crappy comp, i'd just buy the console and connect it to the monitor. Imo, emulation is not worth the hassle...Not everyone has a computer that runs oblivion at high. . You have no clue, do you? He's talking about emulating the PS3 or Xbox 360 onto a PC. You can't even do that efficiently with a PS2 or an Xbox 1, either. Of course, if the game is multi-platform and is PC, the PC would dominate (unless they make all version similar with no eye candies...)[QUOTE="neonsuperstar"][QUOTE="BloodMist"][QUOTE="neonsuperstar"]it doesn't have to be TOP OF THE LINE......no, sorry.Fairly recent, sure. Actually, the person who posted those Oblivion pix has a P4 3.0 HT processor.. SINGLE CORE.. top of the line comp necessary? No.. but a decent 160-250 dollar graphics card sure. 7900GS.. not even a GTX! Yes, you need a top of the line comp to play Oblivion.Single core... yes, but HT, remember that means two threads per core. therefore it's like pseudo dual core.... like mine lol. Anyway but yeah to emulate there is now way any computer would be able to to do it flawlessly. Remember though people, Xbox360 and PS3 don't have out of order instruction processing (SSE SSE2 MMX etc...) like pretty much all modern desktop processors since the late 90's have. Therefore those processors, no matter how many cores they have, although it helps, are a lot slower then most desktop processors.
But since this discussion is better had in the System Wars section of GS.. I will leave it at that :)

Lol my comp kinda sucks to! I only have a amd x3800+ 1gb ram and a puny 7900gt I wish I had that comp in your sig!! LOLLouieV13Still considering upgrading further, maybe double my RAM. Only running oblivion at max wif 32xAA and AF, 2048x1536, @ 140fps, that just sucks. :)
