Haha, gaming laptops are so damn expensive it makes me sick.

I can't even begin to describe how good of a desktop you could build for that much money but hey, I guess you have to pay more for mobility :P

Ouch, even more expensive than the gaming laptop I got a few years back. I totally regret it, too, even though it seemed like a good idea at the time. In hindsight I wish I had gotten a good desktop and a cheap laptop. The desktop would have been better for games and the laptop would have been more portable and more reliable. Those mobile video cards get HOT.

Tbh, I think its sexy in a way that a man should never feel about a computer

I think it will probably run fantastically, but I dont know that its worth so much ._.;

Where are you buying it from?

If you can aford it though, hey, go for it, if not you should do some deal searching maybe before deciding.

I don't know much about this stuff, but I feel like I have to mention the ASUS G73JH-A1. It comes out in about 3 weeks, has better specs than what you're looking at (apart from the display. 1920x1080) and from what I've seen is around $1800 Canadian.

Like I said I don't know much about this stuff, so I don't know what quality is like, but I thought you might like to check it out.

Here's a link if you'd like to have a look.

IIRC, ATI's Mobility 5 series comes out this month. If you can wait for a few weeks, it may be worthwhile building a system around one of those, granted you can fit it into your budget.

Nice. But wow is that thing going to cook when you are playing games!! lol The 4870 gets so hot and uses so much power. Like more than any other video card on the market. I cant believe they put one in a laptop!

Considering that Alienware likes to boast that they have the "fastest" systems, there's a good chance that the Mobility 5 series will be an option within the first two weeks of it's launch. Don't quote me on that though.

I have an older ASUS gaming laptop, and I've had it for just over a year now, and its holding up great. Just dont set it on your lap, or expect much battery life.

I had an older Dell (basically an XPS without the XPS branding) with a 7900GS Go and that thing burned itself out three times within my three year warranty due to the heat it generated. The first one lasted the longest - about two years - but the last two barely managed four or five months a pop. The laptop's method of cooling was sound, it's just that those cards don't handle being crammed in such a small space very well. I can only imagine what the 7900GTX was like at the time, as it got even hotter and was in the same chassis.

If you intend to game, yes.

If you need a laptop you can always get a cheap one for work and a desktop for gaming & other things.
