thank you there... they said it's a good game (i just don't like the narrator, cause it's seems he can't explain the reviews smooth and clearly :D)

but i need something from the gamer itself, like prostreet, gamers give a lower score than the reviewers

for me prostreet is an average game, nice graphics but there's bug and the concept of GT racing feels good with japan environtment

hummm... a racing game with story? can you give an example?

what i need from good racing game is:

-good graphics

-good controls

-modification

-nice cars

burnout paradise is a nice graphic racing games and the effect of crash is awesome, but i don't really like that kind of game, it's just for fun, not something i can show off...

I think he wanted to say Most Wanted, but imo it sucked, and the story didn't do anything to make it better, I actually believe that a story in a racing game ruins it, it takes away the fun of "driving"...you get "OMG that guy stole my money...chase him"...ok...why? I ant to have fun and drive like I should, participate in races, etc, why should I care about your money, lady?...These sort of things are some of the reasons for NFS's decline (imo).

Grid is extremely easy, I bet you just didn't care after one or two races, because it seems hard at first but after 7 or 8 races it's as easy as it gets.

I dont know man I think that I am not that in to the racing games ( like the movie name ) but I might get either shift or Blur ( Blur looks Nice and good better than Forza and GT or even NFS ) what about NFS Online is it still in development , the idea of the game is nice but I hope that its not to be bad like heroes .

Most wanted for crying out loud.... well i agree with dark prince, without a theme its just a generic racer....therefore not immersive and borring, nice to play when a wanna race but after that its just a racer with no motivation and endless races, just like pro street.

Gotta agree. After you've played 10 racers, be it sim or arcade, they all start to get old and samey. Story is sadly lacking in racing games.

While not totally a racing game, Interstate'76 was the best car game ever in part due to the outstanding production value.

Initial D is great, but there will never be a developer that would make such a game, with a great value. It could be the best racing game ever, problem is, Japanese developers are unable to pull it off, and other developers are not interested in such a game.

The worst problem is the car selection, sure the anime/manga makes the AE86 look awesome, but it isn't really that great and many people don't like it, especially now since most care only about supercars, but anyway I'd really love such a game.

There was a game based off Initial D released on the PC, but it sucked.

What story line is there to modern racing? A heroic struggle against the forces of environmentalists? To fight as a Knight of the Holy Petroleum order? Or mayhaps a daring rescue of the combustion engine from the claws of the electric engine?

*scoff

Racing games don't need a story. If you get bored from racing because it has no story then you aren't a true racer. You race for the thrill of driving and the competition, not some backwash story. Otherwise, nobody would be driving 200 laps in NASCAR or race for 24 hours in Le Mans.

That reviewer sounds like a moron.

"It even has a decent cockpit view, if you're into that sort of thing"

That has to one of the all time stupidest things ever said in a review of a game about driving. "If you're into that sort of thing"?.

I knew there was a reason I never go to GB for reviews - and this is a perfect example.

this man speaks the truth. i can't fathom why somebody would play a racing game for its story. If it was a roleplaying game it would be completely understandable. but a racing game? i don't know.

i don't know. Placing Jeff over GS and IGN reviews is illogical resulting to a need of logical argument. What proof do you have that IGN and other reviews aren't honest since you said Jeff's review is the honest one. Also, how do you determine if a review is honest? based on how many years the reviewer's been reviewing games? That is still illogical.

All I hope for is that the handling of the cars is good. Racing games don't need storylines, similar to how sports games, most TBS and RTS games don't need storylines.

Well I've just played it for about 3 hours now. What I'll say is this.... -It's lots of fun. No, really. You'll really like it. -When I plug in my 360 Controller, it does not conveniently change to a controller schematic as in GRiD. An annoyance yes, but not a biggie. -The steering of the cars is fantastic, but some cars struggle to steer. I will have to go drive a BMW to really find out how bad a Bimmer's steering is. -It is relatively easy getting money to get cars. No, not relatively, very easy. But it takes away from grinding at events over and over for cash so I dunno. -As a typical racing game, controller is the way to go. I don't own a wheel so not sure if it is compatible. -The car damage isn't very spectacular like GRiD or another infamous games. It is passable but sorta wants you craving for more. -Navigating the menu is a bit awkward (you have to press numbers to access sub-menu's like how your car looks and such). But apart from that, it is pretty fun. I just wish that it was more controller friendly.

I don't buy a racing game for the story. I buy a racing game for the adrenaline rush I can get from pretending I'm driving, white-knuckled, in an extremely fast race car. All of the NFS games with "stories" have been very dim-witted stories at best. I see no need for a plot if a racing game delivers the thrill expected of a racing game. The dim-witted plots of the previous NFS games only managed to dillute the fun of video game racing, in my opinion.

How are races organized? Are there charts/leaderboards? Teams? Classes? Seasons? Or is it completely arcade-like, i.e. you just have an assortment of events, you pick one at random, and it drops you right on race day in a random grid position? Grid made a pretty half-hearted attempt at having some sort of organization, I'd hate if it was even less organized than that.

Races are organized by series and in each series are 2-5 events. There is also a tier system going on. So the more races you complete, the better tiers you unlock. I haven't really searched for a leaderboard. All I know is that you just get your own player statistics. (I haven't tried the online feature yet, trying to get a feel of the single player mode). There's no seasons, and the events you participate in vary. Some events you use manufacturer car's, others you use your own car. The races aren't that linear but are a bit so. However, you can pick any race you want at random.

So are the top tiers all supercars? Do you have to play in the lower tiers if you want to drive, say, a BMW touring car?

yes... a realism in cockpit, like shifting gears, turning steer, mirror reflection and such things...

Just had a go on it. "Need for speed" is right, it's slooooow. Add to that unskippable cut-scenes and long loading times and I can't see this one being much fun, I'll give it a few more goes before I sell it but it's not looking good.

Can anyone recommend a fast, good, fun driving game, I don't mind arcade or deep sim, whatever.

Interesting review...at least it gives a different perspective from the other reviews I have read. I might still get it...if not simply because it's on the PC and I can use my wheel (right?)...but Forza 3 is what I am really looking forward to...too bad that's not coming to the pc :(

All NFS from Most Wanted was more and more expensive in budget, and becoming more terrible and borring in playing. I m sure that Shift will be the same **** in different bag.

From all the reviews (including the less than positive ones) it appears this version is a marked improvement over recent NFS games...so don't be too sure about that ;)

That's what I want to know...I haven't seen anything in the reviews indicating how well wheels (if at all) work with the game and if Force Feedback is fully supported and implemented well.

I kinda want to get this for PC as it's been a good while since I've played any good sim racer. Also, it'll give me an excuse to get a wheel.

I have played it for a few hours now with the Driving Force GT wheel. I have a lot of experience with racing sims, dating back to nascar racing series from papyrus, to current racing sims such as Rfactor, gtr, gtr2, and gtr evo. Need for speed Shift does work with logitech wheels. The force feedback does work, but it is not as accurate as gtr evo, This is not as accurate of a sim as rfactor, or gtr series, but I dont think anyone expected it to be. However, I am having a great deal of fun with it. The graphics are amazing, it sounds great. The driving is a lot of fun. You can get the cars sideways through turns, without spinning out. If you want to do any comparing, it does not compare with gtr, or rfactor. It does compare with grid. I like shift better than grid. If you are a racing fan, I think you will enjoy this. And, by the way, why the hell do you need story for racing sims?
