I've played FEAR, DOD:S, Quakewars beta 2, and they run great. Too bad I keep getting runtime errors in CSS, but you probably wont have that issue.

Everything runs great for me. Only KOTOR 2 and Deus Ex 2 give me problems. KOTOR only likes to work half the time, and Deus Ex 2 doesnt like to run at all - but i think Deus Ex's problem is more about having a dual core processor rather than it being Vista or Vista 64.

Try updating your video card drivers. I have 32 bit vista, but after I did that it managed to run somewhat well, although it still has to go to the desktop momentarily before going to the loading screen between areas.

C&C 3 didn't work for me in 64 bit vista, it did run in 32 bit though.

As for other games, I didn't try many others. Emperor Of Dune (2001) didn't run in 32 or 64 bit vista.

I wouldn't go 64 bit again in Vista. But I guess if you have 32 bit XP on your system also, than you could get by.

well i want to max out every new game coming out so i guess that would be a good option for me to add another 2 gigs of ram for 113$ and then take advantage of 64 bit...whats the thoughts people....

not for everyone. it varies person by person. with other factors such as what res his monitor is, and what other, non-gaming, programs he might be running...

Monitor resolution is dictated by the memory of his video card.

And he explicitly talked about "wanting to max out future games" not "Is more than 2 gigs needed to run 600 DPI 1GB large Photoshop files?"

While this may be true, did you catch the Stranglehold minimum requirements thread? I'm calling bs on those minimums for Stranglehold but if for some chance that it's true then 2 gigs of ram is needed to play. Now, I know your just gonna say, "Well it's just a console port badly optimized so what'ya expect" and "Crysis can run with them specs". Yeah, I know this already.

My point is that if someone doesn't game on console and wants to play the ports then it's possible that real soon those ports will require more memory. How long do you think 2 gigs of ddr2 800 ram will last us before not being able to run the latest and greatest without lag? Just an honest question, because I don't know.

not true, the technology on the GPU dictates the resolution supported, though ram helps, but only so much, you can have a geforce 6200 with 512mb of ram and still not able to support the same rez a 8800 GTS 320mb supports, the RAM is for textures, and the higher the rez textures in a game the more ram they take up, not the rez of the LCD.

How very strange. C&C3 worked perfect on 64 bit...

I certainly woulden't go 32 bit as 90% of my games work perfect on 64 with the few exceptions which is more a vista issue than how many bits it has.

I've been using Vista 64-bit since it was released and I have had no gaming problems that haven't been solved by running an .exe file as an administrator. This includes new games and games from as far back as 2002. I had a compatibility problem with the June Steam client update, but that has been the only speedbump so far.

Very, very little difference, especially on newer hardware the WOW layer isn't even noticed. Consider it even, for example:

XP versus Vista has had a much greater impact than 32-bit versus 64-bit Vista.
