Hi all, bought my laptop due to downsizing in living space a couple of years back, and Ive had none stop various issues related to the battery, PSU and overheating. Ive bought a ****** Cooling Pad, which can fractionally reduce the heat and stem the problem when I'm busy doing graphics processing work. It's been off to the TechGuys, who returned it minus 2 screws about 10 months ago, came back with a new PSU and a supposedly cleaned out heatsink/fan. Same problem occuring. CoreTemp app indicates the laptop runs between 60 - 70 degrees when running nothing but Firefox, 70 - 75 when running a game such as Fallout New Vegas and even higher when multiple apps are running ( 81's the highets it's ever been before it cuts out). Im hesitant about using canned air as I dont see how I can get into the heatsink/fan from the stupidly placed vents on the bottom of the laptop, and Ive tried to get it open to get in and manually clean it out, but the things secured up tigher than fort knox (removing the bevel from the top by the keyboard doesn't give me access to the fan as first thought). Any ideas? Im losing the will to live with this thing and don't want to fork out a small fortune to some private IT shop just to get it fixed. I work in IT and have experience in building and modding desktop rigs, just dubious about this as notebooks v. desktops are a completely different ballgame. Thanks

I've had 7 friends all of who had HP's that eventually melted because the fans stopped working. They have serious cooling issues. I keep telling ppl not ot buy HP's but they dont listen :/ Your outta luck bro. Get a brand tht wont screw u over. HP's have like a 24% failure rate. Ur best bet is to use canned air. Nothing wrong with that. Just find a hole, stick it in & push the trigger.

stick with Asus products. I work at geek squad and i always get clients with the same issue. Asus are the best when it comes to performance, gaming and life.

Cheers guys, I had a feeling this was going to be the outcome... alas, it served me well'ish... I've got my desktop rig ready to be rebuilt, just need to get hold of som memory and a monitor, lol. Funnily, the laptop's more for my other half's use, she likes to catch up with her YT subscriptions and what not but cant even do that half the time. You wouldnt have any ideas on how I get into the heatsink/fan would you? Im dubious canned air will get it it shifted y'see.
