Hi,

Ive built my own rig and im thinking about giving my dad a slight upgrade from his old crappy EeePC.(winxp)

Here is the hardware that ive had in mind:

Mobo: ASrock E350m1 Mini ITX AMD fusion E-350 with radeon HD 6310

Case: Compucase mini-itx with 120w PSU

optical: Sammy slim drive

Memory: Kingston valueram ddr3 4gb

HDD: Not a clue yet because prices are still high over here. But the case seems to have room for a 3.5"

Price is about 200euros without the HDD.

Will be used for web browsing, skype, youtube HD videos, and a bit of music composing, amateur stuff.

Opinions, upgrades, changes?

Thanks.

It is a decent setup for what you want to do. Just make sure that the case fans aren't too loud, that would be really annoying for an HTPC.

I have a very similar setup but with a 200 Watt PSU, and six 2 TB seagate green drives in software RAID. It works well enough even with 1080p movies at a very high audio/video bitrates.Im very happy with it. Only the PSU has any spinning fans to provide ventilation. Stays cool no matter the load.
