Huuuuuge STALKER issues.

Ok, I brought STALKER a week ago, put it in, and it crashed on the first mission from Wolf, just as I got to his men, failing that, it will crash when I get to the bandits.

i decided to wait for a patch, I put version 1.0001 in yesterday - International as I am in the UK - after seeing the nigh on 60 fixes the patch made, i tried it again, with the same results.

I went back to the store I brought it from and they swapped the disks, I re-installed from the new disk and applied the patch, this time, it crashed even earlier, the disc was in perfect condition. My system specs are also fine to run the game, and I have my latest ATI drivers.

Anyone got any suggestions?

caching issues my friend. This game is having trouble getting stuff off the Hard drive and onto the VGA memory. I don't know why.

Just a little FYI, caching is when your computer puts commonly used info on the RAM. Both regular DDR ram and the stuff thats on your graphics card have a way faster connection to there respective processors. So stuff like a common texture or common algorythem get put on the ram. SATA II tops out (under ideal situations) 100MB/s, average ram (DDR 400 AKA PC3200) tops out at 3.2GB/s (DDR2 800 AKA PC2 6400 transfers 6.4GB/s etc.), the Geforce 6600GT, an average Graphics Card, has RAM that averages an astounding 14.4GB/s, the Geforce 8800GTS (my card) averages a mind boggling 64GB/s.

Mind you, I have everything thats not recomended to have for STALKER, so maybe the caching issues are just mine.

• Geforce 8800? Check
• Vista? Check
• 64 bit OS? Check (the thing that pisses me off about this is 64bit oses are supposed to cache faster)
• Overclocked CPU? Check
• Crappy slow-ass failing orthos wont overvolt for a damn runs on crappy ratio RAM? Check
• Only one gig of ram? Check

 it would seem to me lots of fast ram plus a good raid configuration would do alot to reduce my issues, but thats expensive.

I have recently suggested a Vista fix on this forum but it hasn't caught much attention.

Ive gone down to medium overall, taken the shadows, lighting and grass down to almost minimums (as these take up a lot of processing power, which isnt always worth it)

why can't i load my saved games? i use f6 to save a game,bring up load game,click on saved game then something comes up bugtrap? and everything freezes up.any ideas on how to fix this? i'm using a dell xps m1710 to play stalker and it runs fine. i just can't load a saved game.:(:cry:jzbigz1

 i did the patch.what do you mean by just pause and make a new save?

and to answer your question, when ingame and in need to save, press esc. and then go to "save game" and save.

yeah, I suspect its a direct fault with the lighting function.
