After having this PC for 5 yearsx now i decided to upgrade it. Originaly i was planning to keep it for at least a year but a serious accident happend a week ago that forced me to change my plans. When i connected a digial camera to the pc, it shutdown and it started smelling burned. then when it started working again i realised that all usb ports were burned.(this means no modem,no printer or any other device that connect to usb ports) i went then to the technician and he told me that i had 2 solutions: put a usb card(it adds some more usb ports) or change motherboard... i decided the second. so he put a usb card to be able to use my modem and printer for a few more time, and we started talking about what upgrade i will do.

Today i finaly decided what i will get!!

Right now i have:

Athlon X2 400 2.2 GHZ

2 GB RAM DDR 400 MHZ

8800 GT 512 MB

320 GB HDD

And now i will get

Motherboard: GIGABYTE MOTHERBOARD X58-UD3R

CPU: INTEL CORE I7-950 3.06 GHZ BOX

RAM: 4 GB( 2X2GB) KINGSTON MEMORY KHX1600C9D381/2G HyperX Blu DDR 3

I will also a get a new HDD to put Windows 7 on it but i will keep my old too because i have all my games programs movies e.t.c. there!

HDD: SEAGATE HDD 1TB, SATA -3,32 MBc, 7200RPM, ST310000 524 AS

All of this, will cost me 598 euros!:):):)

Most of you wll know me from the pc game section so as you can understand i am using my pc mostly for gaming and i will continue too!

CPU: INTEL CORE I 7-950 3.06 GHZ

you're paying way too much, besides the i7 -950 is a good cpu , but it's way too expensive, you have cheaper cpu's that will give the same performance or even better performance. I'm from the euro-zone too. i suppose you're going to keep that 8800 gt 512 mb because you don't mention any new cards. Does the shop where you're buying have a webshop so i can see what parts they have?
