Damn I'm sorry guys.
I was actually hoping to try and get an active discussion on a number of things (without spelling it out to you all). But it's obvious you more interested in being miserable about things:
Played Titan Quest yet? If you haven't, start there. Not quite as good as DII, but pretty damn close.
Regarding Mythos...I am in the beta. It's alright, I mean, it does alot of things right, and for the most part it's fun. In my opinion though, it's far too cartoony to replace Diablo.
BTW, I just started a Barbarian on D2 last night :P
It really is the king of the ARPG genre.
true ... so many diablo 2 clones have come and gone. none came even close. i also always endup playing diablo againnaval
Uhh.......Sure some games have.
Titan Quest and especially Divine Divinity i'd say are probably superior to Diablo 2 for a single player experience.
If you put dungeon siege in the same category is Diablo, then thats another options.
Also, I thought Guild Wars was very similar to diablo, but on a much grander scale. Great game.
Personally, D2 bored me to tears
I'm still playing Starcraft and I never get bored.
I think that some games, like Starcraft, can be played forever. Diablo 2 is an excellent game, but I think you should try some new games, like Crysis and Bioshock. With your computer you can run them on relatively high resolution.
Don't waste your computer by JUST playing Diablo 2!
What's wrong with playing older games? I'm currently replaying Baldur's Gate.RK-MaraI don't think its so much that its a old game, but that he has a PC that can player much newer games and yet he ain't playing any of them.

Lol, playing BG too. Bought the whole collection recently. I have an 8800 GTX and it's awesome in new games, but I always try to keep a good balance between new titles and older classics. There are so many great RPGs that I skipped in the past. I have to move to a small town in northern Norway for a year soon, so I guess I'll have plenty of time to catch up in the future...
What I dislike about newer games is lack of complexity and challenge. Even most big RPGs are more and more like action movies nowadays, deep as a puddle...

Remember to use EasyTutu if you are playing BG1 :) And I agree about the shallowness of never games.

Why? I hear the game looks too much like BG2 when using EasyTutu... Is it really worth it?
I do see a lot of graphical glitches in the menu and the fog of war gets all black and blocky sometimes. But I can live with that as long as the game is great.
Hey guys thanks for the suggestions!
I have actually got Crysis, Bioshock etc and played them through.
My main desire is a simple Diablo2 type RPG. I'm a bit of an obsessive complusive when it comes to games and therefore get annoyed by games like Oblivion where I feel I need to search every friken barrel or I may be missing out. I also hate having lots of missions running in tandem.
What I like about Diablo is that you know where you are with it. The quests are very well structured and I love the random weapon drops which give you lots of great variation and compulsive factor. Also it has a great story. Sure you have to search areas and barrels, but that part is pretty easy. Damn, I was able to eat a HotDog while playing!
Anyway, it seems that Titan Quest probably is a game I should try out, so thanks for the suggestion!

titan's quest was just so horrible comparable to diablo 2, most of the characters totally resemblem each other, weapons simple, quest and rewards horrible etc. Divine Divinity was much better it was still not good as diablo as far things which made diablo 2 fun are concerned. DS 1 was downright horrid, i couldn't play that game for more that 2 hours. same with sacred

The overall experience is a lot smoother with Tutu. You don't want to go back after you've tried it.
Uh...backwards compatability FTW?ElArab

I like searching through lots of stuff but I agree with the annoyance of having too many quests at once. But it's too tempting for me. I have to talk to everyone and get all the quests I can in any RPG. Anyways, there's a demo for Titan Quest and the full game & expansion are available via Steam if you're into that. I think there may be a demo on Steam as well.
I also have a pretty good computer but I am playing DooM more than my other modern games. I've never played through it before so I got DooM I, DooM II, & Final DooM. These are very addicting games even though they're so simple. Lots of fun. I'm using ZDooMGL for high-resolution. The game looks pretty damn good too!

Yeah, Ok. You're right. The journal- and fog of war-enhancements are enough to justify an install. Higher res gives better viewing distance too.
