Yeah, it's kind of a sorry state of gaming when Diablo 2 is still one of the better action RPG's out there still lol.

I don't know why you requested help with no-case?

And I think this isn't the place to rate your system. You should open this thread in Hardware Forums.

Damn I'm sorry guys.
I was actually hoping to try and get an active discussion on a number of things (without spelling it out to you all). But it's obvious you more interested in being miserable about things:

  • Why is it that no game comes close to Diablo's excellent implementation of casual RPG?
  • Does anyone else have tails of playing an old game simply because the market (not through want of trying) hasn't catered to what the original provided?
  • Anyone have thoughts/opinions on the Mythos (a possible Diablo of the 21st Century)

Played Titan Quest yet? If you haven't, start there. Not quite as good as DII, but pretty damn close.

Regarding Mythos...I am in the beta. It's alright, I mean, it does alot of things right, and for the most part it's fun. In my opinion though, it's far too cartoony to replace Diablo.

BTW, I just started a Barbarian on D2 last night :P

It really is the king of the ARPG genre.

Try out some different stuff man. Call of duty 4 when your bored of rpg's and strategies. Play medieval 2 total war and the expansion pack they are awesome. Also you can try some elder scrolls games like morrowind and oblivion. Try out the witcher that will last you a few weeks. You could also play WoW if your into the multiplayer seen but be warned that it gets extremely addictive ( ive quit 3 times total and just started back up again ).

Uhh.......Sure some games have.

Titan Quest and especially Divine Divinity i'd say are probably superior to Diablo 2 for a single player experience.

If you put dungeon siege in the same category is Diablo, then thats another options.

Also, I thought Guild Wars was very similar to diablo, but on a much grander scale. Great game.

Personally, D2 bored me to tears

I'm still playing Starcraft and I never get bored.

I think that some games, like Starcraft, can be played forever. Diablo 2 is an excellent game, but I think you should try some new games, like Crysis and Bioshock. With your computer you can run them on relatively high resolution.

Don't waste your computer by JUST playing Diablo 2!

It's fairly normal to return to your old game once in a while, that why the pc is so great, you are not limited by your platform. I still play jedi academy and heart of iron 2 and it makes 2 weeks I got my new monster comp (a small monster vs yours though lol), but I started to play 2007-2008 game around it like Stalker, Cod4, Crysis and I plan to get the Witcher with the new special edition in may.

Lol, playing BG too. Bought the whole collection recently. I have an 8800 GTX and it's awesome in new games, but I always try to keep a good balance between new titles and older classics. There are so many great RPGs that I skipped in the past. I have to move to a small town in northern Norway for a year soon, so I guess I'll have plenty of time to catch up in the future...

What I dislike about newer games is lack of complexity and challenge. Even most big RPGs are more and more like action movies nowadays, deep as a puddle...

Remember to use EasyTutu if you are playing BG1 :) And I agree about the shallowness of never games.

Why? I hear the game looks too much like BG2 when using EasyTutu... Is it really worth it?

I do see a lot of graphical glitches in the menu and the fog of war gets all black and blocky sometimes. But I can live with that as long as the game is great.

Hey guys thanks for the suggestions!

I have actually got Crysis, Bioshock etc and played them through.

My main desire is a simple Diablo2 type RPG. I'm a bit of an obsessive complusive when it comes to games and therefore get annoyed by games like Oblivion where I feel I need to search every friken barrel or I may be missing out. I also hate having lots of missions running in tandem.

What I like about Diablo is that you know where you are with it. The quests are very well structured and I love the random weapon drops which give you lots of great variation and compulsive factor. Also it has a great story. Sure you have to search areas and barrels, but that part is pretty easy. Damn, I was able to eat a HotDog while playing!

Anyway, it seems that Titan Quest probably is a game I should try out, so thanks for the suggestion!

titan's quest was just so horrible comparable to diablo 2, most of the characters totally resemblem each other, weapons simple, quest and rewards horrible etc. Divine Divinity was much better it was still not good as diablo as far things which made diablo 2 fun are concerned. DS 1 was downright horrid, i couldn't play that game for more that 2 hours. same with sacred

The overall experience is a lot smoother with Tutu. You don't want to go back after you've tried it.

I like searching through lots of stuff but I agree with the annoyance of having too many quests at once. But it's too tempting for me. I have to talk to everyone and get all the quests I can in any RPG. Anyways, there's a demo for Titan Quest and the full game & expansion are available via Steam if you're into that. I think there may be a demo on Steam as well.

I also have a pretty good computer but I am playing DooM more than my other modern games. I've never played through it before so I got DooM I, DooM II, & Final DooM. These are very addicting games even though they're so simple. Lots of fun. I'm using ZDooMGL for high-resolution. The game looks pretty damn good too!

I agree completely, I'm still playing a lot of the classic games that are in my library just for the heck of it.

Yeah, Ok. You're right. The journal- and fog of war-enhancements are enough to justify an install. Higher res gives better viewing distance too.

Hey mangs, thanks for mentioning EasyTutu. I never heard of it before. I installed everything and BG1 looks pretty good now, except for a few weird graphical anomalies which can be overlooked. This has inspired me to play though BG1 again since I'm sort of bored with the other games I've had. I've never even played through the BG1 expansion or BGII & its expansion so I may play through the whole series now 8)

i have to agree, i enjoyed D2 a lot, and although other games have tried (Titan Quest etc.) they have all failed imho. Hellgate: London (which was made by the same people) also did nothing for me ... dont think action rpg is making any huge strides atm or any time soon
