I can't pick aveline in DA 2

I'm four hours in to the game and I see aveline in my party selection but I cant select her. Can someone please tell me why?

What was the last thing you did? No one can help you unless they know where exactly you are and what it is that you are supposed to be doing

I just killed the first big dragon in the bone pits.

I haven't contacted the grey warden yet. The mage I think he is. I just got the warrior elf.
