Yeah, it's a wierd topic title so let me explain a bit. I'm actually playing HL2 for the 1st time and one of the annoying things about the game is that movement is "slippery", as if you were walking on ice. If you walk foward, you won't stop immediately and you'll "slide" a bit foward before you stop. It's not totally responsived like other FPS. I really hate this, as it makes me feel sick/queasy when I play. Does Episode 1 and 2 keep this gameplay mechanic, cause it's driving me nuts. Especially when the games expects me to do some platforming work.

Actually, the reason why I'm just getting into FPS now is because the graphics have gotten so good that I don't get queasy or headaches anymore. :) I think it has to do with 3-D depth and lighting perception. Unfortunately, HL2 is a little dated and I do get headaches when I play, especially due to the slippery gameplay mechanics. I might have to pass on this one. :(

I think it might just be in your head. I haven't noticed anything like that, but I'll check...

?!? You guys don't see that it's on slopes of sorts? Like if I move left with "a", I will keep moving slightly left even if I let go of "a". The momentum will carry you a bit, as if you were walking around on ice. It's not 100% responsive like, say, Bio Shock.

Isn't that more realistic? I mean I've never had that problem in HL2, but even then wouldn't that add immersiveness? Because no human can stop on a dime.

The movement is a bit momentum-based, but has been toned down from HL1. Best thing to do if you don't like it is to keep moving :P

That's the way half-life plays unfortunately. Half Life 1 was even much worse.

you haven't seen me on the court, baby! :)

there is an area that is deliberately slippery. if you're in that area after you get chased by a helicopter and you're inside some dingy dungeon-like area with lots of barnacles around you, the ground's slippery. some kind of goo, i think. other than that area, i haven't noticed any problems.
