I bought a new CPU cooler a month ago, and yesterday one of the push pins just popped out by itself, broke, and the whole thing fell onto the GPU. Nothing is damaged, aside from the push pin itself, and now the CPU cooler isn't working (even though the other 3 pins went in fine) the temp is back at 50'C (idle). I'm too scared to game with it damaged. =/

Anyone had a similar experience? Is there a solution to this anyone knows off (aside from having to buy new brackets/push pins). Could I buy new brackets with screws, or would that depend on the product?

Push pins are the worst thing to happen to processors. I have never satisfyingly installed a pushpin processor. The computer I'm using right now is operating with 2 pushpins in, the other 2 out. The I have downstairs has one pushpin shattered, but the other 3 in. They're garbage.

i dont know why people hate push pins soo much, i installed over 15 intel coolers that are push pin, and i did it with no problems at all, with all 4 in there nice and tight,

some pople think you gotta twist and push, or push and tiwst, i however place the motherboard on top of its own box, line up the cooler, puch top right, then bottom left, then bottom right, then top left.. it only takes 30 seconds,

now thats not to say its good, i think it sucks really. especailly when you want to take out the cooler THEN put it back now thats just horrible....

still to me its not NEARLY as bad as what people make out to be, maybe im just good at using push pins?

I have no problem getting them in, it's that once it was in it just popped out on its own. Yes, I put it in correctly. Sometimes I don't need to twist, othertimes I do. But in this instance it came out on its own and broke, now because it's not on securely the CPU is heating up. I might as well not even have a CPU cooler in.

The thing is though that physically, it feels as if it's in as tight as it can go, when I try to wobble it around--there's no room for it to move.

Try rotating them before pushing them in,,,there is no reason why they should be out,
