OK so I'll get straight to the point.

1. I'm considering getting a laptop sometime in the near future, and I'm confused as to which model to choose. I'm mainly going to be using this laptop for gaming and schoolwork. By gaming, I mean that I hope to be able to run MOST of today's games at at least Medium settings in the laptop's medium resolution. So, given the following criteria, can anyone of you help me get the BEST one there is out there [that meets my standards]?

Budget: USD 1500-2000

Screen: Preferably 15" [no lower]

Processor: Preferably at least Intel C2D

HD: >200 GB

RAM: 3 - 4 GB

Graphics Card: Whatever that'll do well on today's games ; the best I can get for the price

The other parts, I have no preference whatsoever.

2. Another thing I'm considering is upgrading my desktop PC either in the near future, or perhaps late next year. I got this system a year ago, and it does pretty well on most games, but of course, I want it to be better. I don't plan to do a major upgrade ( i.e. re-buy ALL the parts ), so if you guys will, help me identify parts that I should make a priority to upgrade, and what's a suitable alternative for a fair price.

Monitor: Samsung 226CW 22"

Keyboard: Logitech G15

Mouse: Razer Lachesis

Mousepad: Razer Mantis Speed

Processor: E2180 2.00GHz

RAM: 2 GB

Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT 512 MB

Hard Disk : 150 GB

IMO I want to get an upgrade on the RAM, Processor and HD. I'm not sure how much longer can the graphics card hold out, but it's not the highest on my list of priorities right now. What do you guys think?

3. This is kind of a noob question but...
I lost my CD Key for LoTR:BFME II recently and I had to go online to get another CD Key. Is this illegal? Have I just unwittingly committed a crime?

4. Another noob question
If I uninstall a game on a certain computer and re-install it on another computer, I can still use the same CD-key right? Or are CD keys only usable for the computer they were orginally used on?

Alright that's all. I hope you guys can help me out here because I'm not really a pro in these kind of things so I figured I'd ask for help from some people that knew what they were doing. If I have unknowingly violated one of the forum's rules in this post, then I sincerely apologize (although I don't see what rule I could've broken).
Good day.

I don't feel like looking for laptops for you, so I will just answer the last two questions:

3) Yes it is illegal. You should contact the maker of the game and see if there is anything you can do - otherwise you have to buy a new one. By you taking a key off the internet, there is a good chance there is someone out there whose key you have just used (aka, their key is now your key, and if they start blacklisting keys, you screwed that person)

4) Yes you can install it on another computer you own

OK Thanks for the reply. Hope I didn't screw someone over for that CD Key :(
PS: I know the paragraphing for the first post is shocking, I'll get down to editing it later on today.

if you want a good laptop il seek for you what you aim for gamer laptop ?
aim toshiba satellite Series and if you got 1700-1900$ take an alienwire With Sli 8700M GT But you would only be able to play with those Two card which would give twice more power in game when ur stationary mode like plugged into car adatpr or house / or place eletricty hole :D cause the battery will consume fast :P like 1 hour and half and it gone

just readed the first part and i did re-edit so you want a gaming laptop ilt ry to find cause gaming laptop hmm let say if you single laptop you should not go behind 8600GT in video card picking and if yo want really to play someting two card = 8700M SLI
those are sold in alienware & toshiba models it the difference vs dell. even if the enterprise it same for dell / alienware
alienware alway focus on gaming and dell / mutli tasking and w/e but laptop can't be own piece collected and changed
so and the laptop in question for 1300-1500-1700$ iv speaken as 17 inch to 15 inch model with huge graphic power
ram can be change anytime to extra for low money

OK, but I would like your opinion on how what you suggested matches up with this laptop that I recently found interesting, and am currently considering.

I'm curious as to how a pair of 8700M SLi'ed compares to this laptop's 9800M GTS

Don't bother getting any sort of gaming laptop if you're going off to college. The battery life will end up running-out in the middle of class, and you'll be left with nothing. I would suggest getting a nice ultra-portable, then spend the rest of your budget by upgrading your existing computer.

Well I'm not really planning to bring it around that much, so I think it'd be just fine. Anyway, I heard the battery life for this is 1-2 hours, which is respectable for a gaming laptop I guess.

Just a quick note, don't be fooled by two 8700GTs, their performane is horrible. A 9800GT will ALWAYS be superior.

i find that that 9800 GTS Is A Good verison but Before it look like it was like 9600GT which is inferior to two 8700M but i was wrong. The 9800 GTS IS BETTER i did the Grade Of The Video card on page 1 : bottom. If you can see Bakalhau90 it reached 9th position as Best video card which i was impress of a single card having same power of Two video card it pretty good
because Before the 9800GTS. If you where comparing a single 8800GTX. having TWO 8700M Was Better But Tough i haven't see much laptop offering the option 9800GTS but is DO which is a great option and a good laptop for gaming there for and i recommend it tought he best laptop yet offering is Still sli 8800GTX but expensive
we could see GT202 In mobile laptop by 2009 Q2 / Q3 Which i hope does perofrm as Two 9800GTS it time laptop get a little strong
or some laptop will have find other source of energy to allow Such thing as 9800GTS SLI at acffording cost which it appear haven't being done yet so if the Geforce 10 get to mobile i hope it Twice the graphic power now so people can maybe play Cryisis ;)

Even a 9600M GT is, believe it or not, faster than two 8700M in SLI.

I believe, TC, you'd do fine with a laptot containing this card. You'd retain some portability while have a good card for gaming.

I'm sorry and I don't mean to offend you or anything, but it's a bit hard to read and understand your posts :P

@bakalhau90 Thanks for your input. I'm coming pretty close to buying this now...
