How long will it be after I buy Microsoft Office 2007 that I'll have to upgrade to 2008 for school? I mean when will schools absolutely require 2008?

2008 is only for Macs. Its nearly identical to 2007 but has a handful of features for better compatibility with popular layout editing programs.

As for when it will be required, well.. I dont think anyone can answer that except your school. If anything, most schools prefer you use Office 2003 because not all osftware has been made to support Office's new .docx format and may cause incompatibility issues.

Unless you are taking courses specifically related to office productivity work, i doubt they will require you to upgrade at all, any time soon.

I'm asking if 2007 will be replaced anytime soon at the point that I absolutely must upgrade. And Best Buy and Costco don't sell 2003, I doubt my school will sell it, it's outdated. I will check though.

2007 won't likely be replaced until after the Windows 7 launch. You've got at least two to three years, and the next version won't likely have anything critical that requires an update at all. You'll be fine.

it depends on your school...my school requires the transition to office 2007 this year so all students are expected to use office 2007 and my school offers office 2007 enterprise edition for free
