On Stalker, if I kill someone neutral towards me without witnesses, will the rest be pissed (like they are clairvoyants) and try to avenge him?

For instance, I'm somewhere with four stalkers, all neutral towards me, and one of them walks out of sight. I have a silenced pistol and I take him out, no one sees or hears a thing. If I come back, will I be attacked by the other 3? That would not be realistic at all...

One of my biggest peaves with STALKER is that it is just sooo hard to keep your reputation from becoming "terrible," no matter how hard you try. And all it takes to go from a top-notch rep to a terrible one is killing one guy the game feels you're not supposed to. It doesn't even have to be a stalker, I've had that happen from attacking military men or Freedom bandits that would also shoot me first thing if I showed myself. Killing men silently so no one notices doesn't seem to stop it from happening. If you kill someone, regardless of whether someone is nearby enough to notice and become alert or not, the whole zone will always know about it. All that work of maintaining a rep, down the drain because of how the feature was lazily implemented.

Oh, thanks for the info, glad I read this in time!! I was already planning my "killing and plundering", now I'm not sure... This is a serious flaw. How does reputation affect the gameplay? All in all, does it matter if you play as a loner? I mean, in practical terms, like you don't get certain quests, etc.?

If so... well, so much for my freedom... :|

I don't think it affects gameplay much, although any factions you've killed enough men from, silently or otherwise, will be hostile toward you and you won't be able to join them. I think that's how it works.

Regardless of how it affects gameplay, I just don't like the fact that if I make one or two "slip-ups," I'm automatically considered scum of the earth by the game. I like to play a good guy, so this really sucks.

Reputatoin does not affect gameplay....unfortunatly.

Feel free to kill...

However do not kill any important NPC as this can stall the storyline.

For instance....when you are tasked with killing someone and they are in a group...just chuck a gernade into the midst.

And if you attack someone in the bar area....your dead...same for any large encampment...

So, they are psychic after all... How could they be upset or discontent with me if they didn't see me do anything? Is there a sign in my forehead flashing "Guilty! Guilty!"? :) Oh well... I'm trying to play accordingly to the game atmosphere: it's a no man's land, no laws, no morals, no nothing, where surviving is the only thing that matters; if I'm low on food (or ammo, or whatever), my life depends on it, and that guy over there has it (you can't tell just by looking at him, you have to try), so... welcome to the jungle baby, you're gonna die!

But now I have to weight pros and cons, I don't want to sever the game or make decisions that I regret later...
