You gotta play part 2 Deus Ex: Invisible War. It's not as good but decent. Part 3 will hopefully be announced in the future.

Avoid Deus Ex 2...it was one of the first games to be destroyed by Xbox. You'll cry...

Check out STALKER. It reminds me a lot of Deus Ex...even though it doesn't have to be like Deus Ex. If you like Deus Ex you'll like STALKER.

I've been hearing bad things about stalker. Can you give me a rundown of it? Why are people complaining about it so much?

Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines is quite similar to Deus Ex.

If you liked the stealth in Deus Ex then you should try the Thief series.

And Stalker is an excellent game.

Well a lot of people experienced bugs with it and it was literally NOT optimized at all...at release. Now there's patches and the floating point 32 mod that help stability and performance.

But the premise of the game is that you're a STALKER...a survivor of the disaster at Chernobyl and now you make your living by performing jobs in the aftermath of the destruction.

It's completely free roam so you can pick your missions and do whatever you want, but there is a main story line to follow (similar to Oblvion only not retarded) and your rewards reflect the difficulty of your missions.

You have a large amount of stats and all weapons have stats. You have an inventory screen and a backpack with limited space and everything else you see in an RPG. There are "magic weapons" that are better versions of their "non-magical" weapons. For example, I found an AK47 with a firing rate faster than that of an MP5.

Plus the game is creepy as hell and your adrenaline will FLOW when you enter the 6th basement floor of a bunker and all the light you can see is coming from behind you and weird noises start happening and things start to fly around on their own. You are always wondering what's waiting in the shadows because the monsters are freaks of nature due to the prolonged exposure to radiation.

It's amazing game...really...

most common complaits are the bugs and low performence (patches and mods help fix this though) also the difficulty is kind hard....but if you liked dues ex...you will most likely like STALKER.

For Deus Ex Creator Warren Spector, he said he was done with the series so if they do make another one it will most likely not even compare to the originals.

I would have to emulate the suggestion of S.T.A.L.K.E.R and make mention that I enjoyed it the most when I wasn't following the story missions, the world truly breathes around you.

Some other games outside of the FPS realm that keep with the spirit of DEUS EX (that whole, hah told you that you could merge two different gaming genres succesfully spirit) are Planescape Torment, Baldurs Gate Series, and Fallout Series (tactical RPG). Also in that spirit the recent UFO games, though rough in their presentation can be real gems.

I hesitate to recommend BIOSHOCK as I have found it wanting compared to System Shock 2, but games that have a more immersive flair than the aforementioned isometric RPG's are Indigo Prophecy, Dark Messiah of M&M (have to be forgiving of its shortcomings, but can be fairly enjoyable), and if you are a fan of open ended sprawling try out Morrowind - though Oblivion may have better graphics and more streamlined gameplay Morrowind is massive with all of the user created additions and add-ons, and it is fairly inexpensive.

But last but certainly not least, if you are willing to look way back into the gaming golden age, some of my favorites are Eye of the Beholder 1-3, Might and Magic 4,5,6... 7 is ok. Wow, sorry for the long post.

Cheers

I appreciate you taking the time to response mr. synaptic cleft. I will check out STALKER. Was not a fan of Bioshock at all =/ pretty normal/boring game besides the wonderful environment. I have played Fallout 2, but not part 1 which I may try to get into. Have beaten Oblivion and loved it, but have not tried Morrowind. Thanks again for the post and KEEP EM COMIN GUYS =D i love reading peoples suggestions. Any good games really, I guess I'm just looking for something fun to get into.

Definitely buy Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines and download the user patches.

Without the user patch it is a buggy mess, but with it it's my favorite RPG/RTS hybrid, with Deus Ex a close second.

System Shock 2 was basically the game that preceeded Deus Ex. There's is no game released after Deus Ex that's anything like it / worthy of mention

Deus Ex is a dystopic Cyber-Punk themed game with a FPS/RPG hybrid playing system. If you liked the atmosphere in Deus Ex then I suggest. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cyberpunk then find the link to the video games list. If you like the FPS/RPG playing then I suggest System Shock 2 maybe BioShock, but I havn't played it yet :(

Boiling Point.

It had 5 times the number of bugs that STALKER did at release. And it has some questionable design flaws. The game as a whole was a bit too ambitious for its time.

But now it is all patched up and provides some good fun.

Deus Ex - still my favorite of all time

Also dig:

Mafia, Max Payne 1 & 2, No One Live Forever 1 & 2, Far Cry played each one several times

Vampire Masquerade recommended as well.

I suggest using the Top Games feature on Gamespot, and select All time. Then you can read a couple of Gamespot reviews and user reviews to get a good idea of the games.

Anyway, some other great PC games: The Longest Journey, Grim Fandango, Lord of the Rings Online (my first MMO), Clive Barker's Undying, Star Wars:Knights of the Old Republic (even if you hate Star Wars. I do.), Call of Duty series, Alien vs. Predator 2 (weird title but trust me), Silent Hill 2.

But its true that you can't miss Thief 1 and 2,System Shock 2 and Morrowind, if you liked Deux Ex.
