To award myself after a tough semester, I plan to buy myself a gaming mouse,

I live in Scotland and would be willing to spend around £40

Any suggestions would be appreciated

thanks,

stu

The G5 is very good, but it would be best to go to a store and check them-out in person.

Agreed, picked this up for kicks and I love it. Great mouse, just really pricey. Might be too pricey as it's $50 over budget. The G5 might be the next best in line but here's a link to help you find the one you're looking for.

Logitech G5 for sure. At first it took me a while to get used to the ergonomics(coming from a flat & rounded Microsoft mouse), but it's really comfortable now.

No paintwork comes off over time. Same with G7.

I use a death adder and I find it a mouse that I will never use to its max. It's rather simple but large and comfortable for my hand.

Yeah, This what I use and i've never had a problem, it's a quality mouse and is quite a bit cheaper than the rest of them

I use the Razer Copperhead and love it. Can't really use too many 'gaming mice' because I am left handed when using a mouse. No its not what you think. My dad only has one arm and it is his left hand so our old computers were always set up for him and I grew used to it.

If you can still find it, likely you can, Raptor-gaming M2. They come in a chrome tin box, very amazing mouse.

I use a Razor Pro|Solutions (which is basically a rebadged Diamondback), and I love it.

If you meant that as "No, the paintwork comes off over time" ... i've had mine since the day it was released, been through 1 set of batteries and its 'paintwork' is flawless.

TC: neither of the awnswers were correct, the correct :P would be whatever mice YOU feel comfortable in YOUR palm/hand, this is more important that the brand.

I use a cheap gaming X7 mouse and its far more comfy in MY hand than all the awnswers you got.

As for reaferense i cant stand the feel of the deathadder, if you got quite big hands it fits just as good as a dragsterengine in a Toyota prius = fail.

MS got some rather large good gaming mice, but they are a bit expencive.

3200dpi.., i never use that much anyway 2000dpi is more than enough.

Go grab some mice and test them instead of asking what we think you should get this is my advice.

(You dont ask people on webb what shoes are best?, it's just as a personal oppinion as asking about a new mouse, one have to try them out first.)

Cheers!

I'll agree with swehunt actually. A couple years ago, it really mattered what kind of features your mouse was offering...but at this point any self-respecting "gaming" mouse is going to have a high-enough DPI to do the trick, and it really does come down to ergonomic things like its feel in your hands and side button placement. Other features like adjustable weight and on the fly sensitivity adjustment are nice, but I hardly think they're the deal-breakers or makers when choosing a mouse that you are going to be using everyday, presumably for several years.

i wasnt so much asking for a direct answer as to whatto buy, my objective was to create a short list and try them myself.
