Since my WoW expires at the end of May I am going to need a new game. I don't go on the hunt for games like most people. The only thing I am looking forward to in the future is Skyrim and Diablo 3. As long as Battlefield 3 turns out like Battlefield 2, then you can throw that in there too. My friend lent me this show called 24. I don't have a TV so it's the first time I have seen it. The show rocks and is totally intense. Makes me want to play a good shooter. Recommend me something? Nothing like CoD please, I hate that game. I have also played all the Splinter Cells and Hitman series already. I know a lot of you on the forum are Crysis fans but that games doesn't look appealing to me. Like I said in the title, sort of tactical shooter, stealth like game. Similar to Splinter Cell. I don't know of any recent shooters/FPS that I am talking about.

Funny that you say Crysis doesn't sound interesting because it fits your criteria pretty well. Look into it.

Maybe. Seems like it was always over hyped for the graphics. Judging by a lot of peoples posts on this forum, #2 was a let down. I was just thinking of Metal Gear Solid. Unfortunately that game is only for console. The only game I ever enjoyed on console. That's the only game that has come to mind and the last time I played it was maybe 6 years ago.

stalker: shaodws of chyrnoble & call of pripyat

metro 2033 is linear but its quite stealthy

tom clancy's: rainbow 6 vegas: 1 & 2

despite its budgetness a good fps is code of honor 3: desperate measures.. i like it alot despite the constant bashing the franchise gets for being the "knock-off king" in that its stolen from 3 of the biggest fps's in history (farcry 1, battlefield: vietnam & cod4). it has a certain undenyable charm to it and te gunplay can be really satisfying

finally one CANT have a stalthy fps list without the infamous.. sniper: ghost warrior

you use cover, camo, and weather to your advantage. sneaking in and out of hotspots and taking out opponents with all the telltales signs of a stelth fps (sniper rifles, knives, pistol). granted it has a few fast paced momments but the MP and steath mechanics can be really fun if you just bear with it long enough to understand them & appraciate the effort city interactive went too. i mean its first big budget titles .. EVER cut em 5 slices of slack and apply liberally.

First of all, not true! There was definitely a PC port of the original Metal Gear Solid. A lot of people were disappointed by Crysis 2 because it was heavily consolized. Despite that, I enjoyed it quite a bit. But anyways, the first Crysis is probably best known for its graphics, but the gameplay is amazing and definitely backs it up. If you're into tactics, there are probably about a dozen different ways to handle each situation and the nanosuit really gives you a lot of options. Download a demo and see what you think.

Metro 2033 doesn't strike me as stealthy. The game is pretty much straightforward.

Non-PC, but Metal Gear Solid series? Top of the line stealth series
Could try Twin Snakes on gamecube, MGS2 on the PS2 or Xbox, MGS3 Subsistence on the PS2 (*I would recommend this over all else, even if just the original), or MGS4 on the PS3
Another game that comes to mind is Alpha Protocol, but I havent played it. Some liked it, some hated it. Look it up I guess.
Rainbow Six? Its a tactical first person shooter series. Ive only ever really really played Vegas, and roughly touched upon some others.
Now some that are less tactical
The Half Life Series. If the first feels too old, theres nothing wrong with starting on HL2
Mass Effect Series. The first isnt an amazing shooter, but the story makes up for that, and the second is much more shooter friendly while still haveing awesome story.
and this ones a stretch, but Vampire The Masquerade Bloodlines with the latest 7.x patch. This is more of an RPG, with some shooting.

I have played and own all the Metal Gear Solids. One of the best series ever. I don't like consoles at all though and I will never buy another one. My PS2 hasn't been plugged in since maybe 2008. I don't even have a TV anymore.
