It needs to be wide screen for sure and probably 20", but is there a computer monitor that will play blu ray videos? i will get a bluray/hd dvd player soon and i want to use my new computer monitor as the projection. so basically im asking for a widescreen 20" computer montitor that is a hdtv.

Thats a TV. We're talking about computer monitors here. Computer monitors, both LCD and CRT, have been "HD" for years. The resolution of the highest TV rating is 1920 × 1080. The latest monitors and video cards can produce 2560 x 1600.

i want to get a 20' monitor that has the hdtv outputs so i can play my xbox 360 on there. how about that? also can it be a tv too?

You aren't going to find a monitor with HDTV outputs.

You can plug the 360 or your PC into the monitor, but the monitor isn't generating a signal. You can plug the 360 into any PC monitor with VGA inputs if you buy the VGA-adapter for the 360. And you can plug just about any computer into a TV if your motherboard or video card have an S-Video or DVI output and your TV has the same.

i went to my friends house and he has a computer monitor that is a tv and when we play 360, its on that monitor and its hella good quality though. do you know how i can do that?

I think he means either HDCP compatible or have HDMI/Component inputs on it. All of the Dell Ultrasharp's are great monitors and have component inputs on the back (expect the 30"). They range from around $400 to $1200
