Hello. As the topic says, i need a new headset/headphones for gaming. Money isn't much of a factor, i just need one with really good sound quality. I've been looking at this one: http://www.headphoneworld.com/p/Sony_MDR-RF880RK_Wireless_Headphones.htm - It looks pretty sweet, surround and wireless.

Annd of course there's Fatal1ty's headset: http://uk.europe.creative.com/products/product.asp?category=437&subcategory=442&product=16337 - The sound quality should be pretty good.

Can you find some better ones? I don't really care about a mic. They just need to be comfortable and have good sound quality. Thanks.

I use a logitech USB headset and I'm happy with it. It was like 40$ at best buy.

The best part about it is the fact that I just unplug it and my external speakers come back on.

I'd go for an open version because it will be easier for your ear's pavilion. I have two headsets that are closed-air and after 4 hours it just kills me.

I also don't like wireless headsets because I never move from my PC when working / playing and it would be annoying that after 7 hours I need to recharge them.

I highly recommend these Razer Barracuda HP-1 5.1 surround sound. (You do need a sound card soundblaster etc.)

Don't get wireless headphones. Yes, the technology has improved but the sound quality is still bad compared to wired.

The Sennheiser HD140 Headphones are outstanding. Even tho there wireless I can go anywhere in my house and not hear any static or hissing, just what I'm listening too. I know some people don't like wireless, but these are the best, there comfortable, and you can recharge them just by putting them on there stand. I replayed HL2 to hear what I missed the first time and I missed alot. You can hear those damn headhoppers before they start attacking, and now I'm playing crysis with them. I don't know if there surround or not, but I didn't care about that. Hope this helps.

It's all about what your preference is. Make sure they are nicely padded if you will be wearing them for extended periods of time.

Also make sure they are good quality. I know people that say, "go down & buy a $15 pair at Walmart, etc". I say don't! If you play FPS, RPG or MMORP games you want the high quality sound. I have a Logitech headset/mic. It also has an inline volume control & a mute button for the mic. (nice for 1-2 yr olds screaming in the background lol) I paid about $80 for them & I love them. As was said before though, the closed ear kind do hurt after extended periods with them on. I still prefer them. And I like the over the top of head kind instead of behind the head/neck kind.

They are great quality & I can hear footsteps, gunshots, voices, etc very nicely & can distinquish the direction of them too. The mic is also great quality too & easy to configure in windows. It is pretty much just plug & play!

Go to an audio store and try some out. I recomend some of the senheiser models just for raw comfort and sound quality. I got frostbite on my ears years ago and comfort is #1 for me. Some of the felt padded models I can wear all day without issues, whereas other headphones hurt after 5-10 minutes. I highly recomend staying away from the mic/headset combos since if one part goes bad (mic or headphones)you pretty much have to toss it in the trash. I have a USB boom mic from Logitech that has better sound quality than the ones that sit right in front of your face.

I have always used Sennheiser. The PC166 is the one I am using now and I can recommend it. Nice headset. Great quality and the mic is crisp clear. As for the Razer headset mentioned above it's not very good. It's poorly made and the customer support is terrible. Plus you have to tweak the damn thing to death before it even sounds halfway good. Avoid the AudioFX stuff. It's poorly made and they just flat out suck.

Hey guys. Sorry for the late answer, i was too tired to comment and forgot my topic :D ...Anyway, i think im going to buy me a Sennheiser. I just have a couple of more questions.

Is it worth it to buy one with surround sound? Do they really work? Apparently i have this soundcard: "SoundMAX Integrated Digital HD Audio" ...A friend picked the parts for my PC, and i dunno if it supports surround. :?

And should i just buy the latest Sennheiser... um, version? The never the version, the better the sound quality amirite? This one "sounds" delicious: http://www.sennheiser.com/sennheiser/icm_eng.nsf, Wired, HD 485.

Thanks again.
