oh first you need to decide on a mother board, i dont really know much about which ones are good, but just google it. when you have your mother board you need to know is compatable. i would suggest that you got a mobo, with PCI-E, and which could handle DDR2 RAM. I think your budget is too low because a decent CPU (E6400), and video card (Nvidia 7900 GS) will cost 350 dollars already.

That's going to be very low on budget to get a good system. If you could add another $300 minimum, we can try building something half-decent, but the budget you have is low...

Handle anything? $550 to $600 is way too low if you want your computer to handle anything, especially gaming. Your budget will be gone simply from buying an 8800GTX, which is currently considered the top video card. Good luck on even getting a decent computer.

ok for processor i would go any core 2 duo, since your bugdet is low get the E6300, or wait for E6320 with 4MB cache, for video card for around 250 dollars you can get the nvidia 7900 GS.

no offence to OP but if you dont know your way around the parts, you have no business building a system. Go buy an system from Gateway or Dell on sale and then upgrade, get some computer building experience that way...

Again, still not enough. An Intel C2D E6600 CPU, GeForce 7900 GS video card, and ASUS 650i SLI motherboard will cost you about $650 if not more. And that's not even close to the best you can get.

Actually you can get the 7900 GS for under or about $200.

Still, it's going to be too low, since you will need a good PSU, and that will set at least 1/5th of the budget aside... We can try... E6400 - C2D CPU $221.00 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16819115004 Mobo - GA-965P-DS3 $123.00 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813128012 GPU - EVGA GeForce 7900GS $160.00 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814130056 PSU - Enermax Liberty 620W $150.00 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817194004 Already $+154.00 But you still don't have RAM...

yea i totally agree with, it seems liek you dont really know your way around building PC's, get a pre-built one and upgrade from there.

well if that's the case get 8800 GTX OZ(over clocked version) 320 mb for 300$ Intel Pentium D processor at 2.8 GHz(dual core) for 100$ and a mobo that' compatible with your system and processor which will only cost 50$ and if necessary spend an extra 150$ on 2gbs of Xms ddr 667 ram. There you go 600 for everything you need.

Just made a list, came to $654.00, so we are close to what you mentioned. I think we figured it out. To the OP: you'll need to get at least another $150 to get to this price. Less then this is close to impossible, since you will not have good equipment. Going cheap is something you better not do, but you could look out for rebates to try and get the price down a bit.
