I don't have digital, cable or satellite TV. Would a HD TV work without these.

I want to use a HD TV as a monitor. I would want to buy a PS3 at some stage so will i require a HDMI input.

I'm just looking for something around 19-20in. Nothing too expensive. If you have any recommendations they would be greatly appreciated.

Define "nothing too expensive". Right now I'm thinking of suggesting 20" monitors, since they'd likely be better quality than no-name 20" HDTV's.

At 19-20inch you are basically talking about a PC monitor. And most cheap HDTVs that size just convert a PC monitor.

There are 20.1 widescreen PC monitors for $200 or so that support HDCP so you can use a HDMI to DVI cable for the PS3. Some will even support 1080p "input". The screens are not 1080p itself, but they are higher than 720p, so if it accepting 1080p and converts to the monitor resolution you get a nice resolution in between 720p and 1080p.

Like these: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824112003

It might not be much more for a 22inch, but you'll have to do research on the HDCP support for the PS3 and possible 1080p input support.
