Hey guys I am having a problem with hooking up my PS3 slim to my monitor. I am using a HDMI to DVI cable to get picture and the composite cables for sound to my computer speakers. My monitor is a Acer X223w and is HDCP capable so it should not be a problem...right? Anyways I can get sound but no picture, it is very annoying to me because it worked before with my other PS3 and now it does not. I have also done a hard reset on my PS3 and it still says no signal on the screen but there is still sound so I am very confused. I dont think the DVI connector is bad because my computer works just fine. I have also tried 2 different HDMI to DVI cables with the same results and have also even used component cables to hook up the PS3 to a TV and it works fine. So please guys if you could help me out I would greatly appreciate it!

Maybe the DVI port is dead. Can you get VGA cables for PS3? I know you can get them for Xbox.

Hook your PS3 up with the HDMI to DVI cable and turn it on using the button on the front, but hold it down until it beeps a second time (around 7-10) seconds. This will automatically configure your video settings. Hopefully, the problem is just that the monitor doesn't accept the resolution you have it set to. Then, if it works, just go back in and reset your audio to output by composite and you should be set.

I hate to say it, but your monitor may not have HDCP. I had the same issue with mine that actually was but even then it didn't work.
