My computer has stopped picking up anything that runs through a usb port. It won't detect my Ipod or my wireless adapter, so I've been forced to use a wired connection. Any help would be appreciated.

Is it a pre-built or custom built? Laptop? Desktop? Brand? Model? Lot of info but will help better determine the problem:D

you may have got a virus and you need to reinstall the drivers for your usb ports which can usually be found at your manufacturers site or you can google usb drivers and find a dowload. Also it could just be your power supply burning out and it nolonger has enough amps to power your usb ports if thats the case its just a matter of buying a new one which are usually pretty cheap and installing it which it comes with an instruction manual on how to do it.

Like I said you may have a virus or with the new video card it may not have enough power, try it without the new card and if it works thats your problem.

if its not the drivers I recomend getting a new powersupply thats more powerful than the one you have. Getting a better powersupply never hurts anways, it will also help your computer run better and faster if it has the proper power or even more than is needed.

It might be quicker to buy a USB 8port PCI card to get you up and using your USB peripherals again. These cards are cheap. Then you could tackle the main problem at your leisure. On the other hand, check BIOS to make sure USB is switched on properly. It might help to disable USB in BIOS, boot into the OS, then reboot and go into BIOS re-enable USB and boot OS again. If I recall, I dont think you need to install any special USB drivers as Windows XP SP1 and higher is supposed to use its own drivers.
