My computer is having trouble recognizing my game :/. I meet all of the requirments but when I put the disk in my comp it doesn't bring up the install screen. In fact, if I go through my computer and look at the drives it doesn't seem to realize there is a disk in there at all :(. The game is Oblivion, the game is fine cause we tested it at a friends place and it works just fine. My computer does this with ONE other game and that's Empire Earth :/. Is there a way around this? Any ideas?

my old computer used to do that, try starting the computer up with the disk inside that always used to work for me.

Thats fine as long as you dont use your drive tray as a cup holder (you wont believe the things that friend of mine has to hear... he works in tech support)

Have you checked your Disk for scratches

Here's what you should do

Step 1make an Image of your Oblivion CD's/DVD so you don't have to use your CD/DVD reader, a program like Alcohol 52%(Free) will do

Step 2 mount the image on a virtual drive, program like deamon toolz, Alcohol 52% has a virtual drive option too.

If you can't do that then a NOCD ".exe replacer" can be found at gamecopyworld (This is completly legal though frowned upon), i don't advise doing this as it can lead to instability

Actually I wasnt joking, but if a person has a pc that can run Oblivion chances are they have a DVD-rom drive. When you put the disk in and use windoz explorer to try to run the Install .exe what does it do? If it doesnt show up chances are its a bumb disc assuming other dvd/cd's work in your drive. If not maybe time for a new drive. Theyre dirt cheap nowadays.

i have heard of the story about the "cup holder" too :), anyway, have you tryed to clean your dvd player with a lens cleaner cd or something ? it might help you, or somply get a new drive, they cost as you know next to nothing.

Optical disk are so 90's. Running a PC game directly from your hard drive make so much more sense these days
