Lol seriously, I just found out that im elligble for a free HD DVR reciever from Dish and Im giddy like a school girl! one problem, I need a HDMI cable that will run from the box *in the living room* which is where it will be put to my room *2 rooms away* Im guessing 35- 40 feet will do it. I need it cheap (im not a real picture quality snob) because no matter what the the annoying 4:3 upscaling will be gone! And My picture wont be nearly as ****ty as what im stuck with. SD 480i :x Any kinda info would be great. I have google searched it and all that, but I would like to know from the A/V tech heads sufing this forums what would truly be good. Thank you in advance for some good input. :)

Amazon.com. Seriously any old HDMI cord will do. I got a 10ft one for 3.99. Just to give you an idea on prices. Another idea is to buy a bunch of small ones and link them with an HDMI link, I'm thinking loss of picture is minimum, but the longer I reckon the better.

Actually for long lengths not any old HDMI will do. For 40' you should be OK buying a heavy gauge HDMI cable from Monoprice.com for around $40(I use their 22 gauge HDMI cable for my projector with no issues). HDMI isn't really built to work over very long distance which is one reason many custom installers still prefer to use component cable for these runs rather than use heavy gauge wire or HDMI repeaters.

SDI is also good for long runs or you can send it over cat5e, both of those can easily handle 1000ft runs without any repeaters

That's kind of funny. You got a 40 foot HDMI cable for $40, while Monster's "basic" 4 foot cables are $100+ And I never knew they made HDMI cables that long.

Yeah, when I was putting my theater together a couple of years ago, the 50' Monster Cable at Best Buy was like $400. Back then I paid about $50 for a 35' 22AWG at Monoprice. The funny thing is the best Buy guy said everything under the son to explain how Monoprice is not going to get me true HD performance and I was making a huge mistake and I think he really believed it!
