you know game programming is not very easy right?

I've taken one and a half years of Object-Oriented Programming now (1 yr in C++ and 6 months in Java) and I'm not confident I'd be able to make a game myself.

so you have no idea about coding and you want to make a game ? dude you should start with basics , look up tutorials on youtube , theres loads of them :)

btw if u want to make a game , i suggest you to start with source sdk , making maps and all kinda things for source games , then move on on unreal engine , since its free now !

Look start with something easy... Like Making a calculator, a file sorting program, a program that can gather data, A data base... Once you have done these things you can start to learn advanced math because a game is math math math math math with codes. Then you can try to make a 2d game. Then when you have done a good 2d game and you know all that code inside out then you can move to 3d games...

All of this should take you... ... ... ... 6 years? Now get going.

lol that wont happen if you dont have any skill at all to start with. i dont see why anyone would invest so much time to help you learn everything for free. i mean helping is nice but noone is going to give you full weeks/months of his time. i am a software engineer and im currently working on a "next-gen" game myself as a hobby, but im still on the engine atm. the engine alone takes a huge amount of time to make properly. if you want to develop a game, you first need to have strong coding knowledge. you need to start with more basic stuff like programming a notepad. if you havent given up after having made a notepad, you can start thinking about bigger software. the learning curve isnt easy and requires motivation. Once you code like a pro you can make a good game. if you want to do a little 2D game you can find frameworks or libraries to help you though. if you want to go straight to game programming, you can check out this stuff: 1. http://www.gamedev.net/ its a good place to start, you will get good tutorials for beginners there. 2. Ogre3D. its a free 3D engine. like most free stuff, its lacking in some areas. first Ogre3D is a 3D only engine, meaning you need to do the rest all by yourself (AI, pathfinding, game mechanics, input, etc). its also not the best engine for next gen games. 3. XNA game studio. its a software and framework from microsoft to create games on PC and Xbox360. its "very easy" (read less difficult) for beginners but its very limited and not very efficient as its limited by both the C# langage and the framework. there are a lot of other ressources and stuff on the internet to learn. its kind of the best place. i have learned a lot more on internet than i did in 4 years at IT school.

funny thing is i dont think hes trolling. But seriously asking on a game board for someone to help you code is like asking a bunch of ferrari race drivers to help you design and build a car. Just because we play games and have nice rigs doesnt mean we know two jacks about coding. Maybe 1 person on this entire board is actually a game dev but most (i.e. 0%) know any thing about programing and -10% would bother helping someone who has no idea what they are doing. You seem young enough to bother asking such a silly question here as well which most people instantly pick up on, TL:DR no ones gonna help you here.
