O.K. I'll start off by saying my computer is garbage. Absolute garbage. I've been saving up to buy a new computer, and so far its going well, but now my computer is just starting to get worse and worse. I can now hardly watch videos on youtube in 360p. It gets choppy as hell. I'll post the specs on whatever I can find, and perhaps you can tell me what's wrong. Also, I'm not exactly sure on how to clean a computer properly (deleting unnecessary files, etc) so I'd be greatly appreciative if you guys could help me out. Thanks!

(Note: My computer has died many times due to electrical storms, and viruses. Many parts needed to be replaced.)

Running CCleaner has never hurt in my experince

Uninstalling bloatware and keeping background programs to a minimum helps too :)

Your could upgrade your video card (and install a newer driver) as well as add some more RAM. Additionally, your are probably not using the latest Flash player, so head over to www.adobe.com and get it. But, I would really recommend re-installing windows based off your known virus issues and previous failures.

I wouldn't waste my money upgrading it, it's just too old and wouldn't be worth it. (Athlon XP and Geforce 4 are about 8 years old.)

This. Don't bother upgrading it, you're just wasting money that could go towards your new rig.

I agree. I didn't know they made a 440 that uses 8*, yah the 440 Is that old.

It's not just he frequency of the chip, which Is not bad by todays standards, but an Old Athlon from yesterday does not have even a fraction of the advances made by the chips today. The hardware bus that chip runs on Is also ancient, and AGP Is still tied Into that bus...start over.

That processor is the main bottleneck of that system. You could upgrade the memory and the GPU but the processor will bog you down every time. That is a single core, a slow one at that.

Follow the guide in my sig. That will give you as much of a speed boost possible without re-installing.
