I read the sticky on GPUs, but I still need some input.

Basically, I bought shadowrun the other day, and just got really pissed that my computer could run it, but it was too laggy to play it. This is because my GPU isn't good enough. Right nowI have a Dell Dimension with 2GB Ram, and an AMD Athlon 64X2 Processor at 2.2 GHz. Not sure about the GPU, but it runs HL:2 and CS:S and Garry's Mod just fine. My question is (if money is no object), should i go for the ATI Radeon HD 2900XT, or an nVidia 8800 GTS/GTX? Thanks in advance.

well they said run not run well, lol i've burned though like that with my geforce 5500. but at least you ddin't download GRAW 2 which was 1 GB on your recently cut in half internet speed by the monkeys at bell only to find the game run at 10 FPS. anyways whats your monitor size if its 1280x1024 get the gts 320mb, if 1680x1050 get the gts 640mb if 1900x1200 get the gtx. ati is not an option right now, there limited amount of ROPS at 16 really kills AA performance.

i would suggest getting an ATI HD 2900XT would max it out andbecause its better than the 8800GTS, but if money is no object then the 8800GTX would be best choice.

Well, I never really did mind that the 2900 was a little behindon gaming performance compared to the 8800, but that was only because of the value it was supposed to have with its HD video performance and onboard sound. But after reading how the HDvideo with a 2900 isnt as good as the 8800. That really didit for me. 8800 isbetter performance in gameing and multimedia on top of being less money so i'd say go with the 8800

You should just get an 8800gts 320mb. Save money and still run everything maxxed out. Go to newegg.com and buy it there.
