I think my steam account was hacked:(

So I try to log on today and I notice that my password dosen't work at all. I try to reset my password but I never get the emails for some odd reason. I type my name in google(don't ask why I just did) to see if it would link me to my account and see if it hasen't been deleted.

well the account dosen't have my name at all but I look at his/her games and all of them are mine. Not one is missing from the list.I look at the achivemnets and all of those are mine im still missing alot but all those achivements are mine playing as the pyro and medic.

is it possible to hack a steam account and change their password and account name? I can't login at all and can't get into my games:(

People don't go around finding people's usernames and try to hack the password, it was something you did that would have got you hacked... giving your PW away to anybody is a good way for it to happen.simardbrad

If you really believe that someone else has your account and you did not give anyone your password, than it is likely a keylogger so do a scan with a good antivirus program.Bullet_Holes

well I keep my anti virus programs off when running steam mainly because steam told me to-_-

You'd be surprised just how many people this happens too lol. Seems like a simple thing to check but it can be a huge oversight as people presume to have never turned Caps Lock on in the first place lol.

well I was 100% right

the guy did hack me Steam gave me a new password but I look at my steam Id page and see a diffrent game and see that my games have been played on it.

o and the guy changed everything around in my profile so he named his page Takashi or whatever

and hes from indiana lolz people need to buy their own games-_-

I never ever turn off my AV program for any game...have never needed to. ( No problems with Steam either)

Now adays if you turn off your AV...your also turning off your Firewall...

If you have a decent AV program you shouldn't have to turn it off or down for any program.

If you have to....get a different AV ( you get what you pay for )

Remember every 10 seconds your computer is being attacked !

Steam should have given you another option ( opening a port etc ) then the lame old excuse..." It's your AV program "

Haha, I don't have AV software or any anti-malware software for that matter, and I never get viruses, you only have to know what you are doing, visiting, etc.

I do a monthly scan with my other computer and my PC it's always completely clean.

Same here, have used steam for ages and always turn off av when playing, i scan every week and still have never seen a virus.

You should care as it means your either making a mistake giving details or you have a keylogger or other security threat on your pc. Whos betting we get another my account was stolen thread from this guy in the future, tsk tsk.

If he cheated on your account, you're going to get VAC'ed in a few weeks. Valve won't undo the ban just because you got hacked, either.br0kenrabbit
