i want an 8800 GTS but....

My friend keeps telling me"dude dont get one of those theyre crap and theyre not stable because their new".

he tried to shove one of these http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102082 down my throat but im not an ATI person, and i took the advice off of this forum. i would also get a second one for SLI in the future. so who's right here?

if it is unstable it would probably be b/c the drivers are new. I am about to build a pc with this card (8800 GTS 640MB) so i trust it will be alright

It's not unstable. The only thing is that it is the first dx10 gpu series, so naturally the next generation of dx10 gpu's will outperform it.

With that said, the 8800gts will destroy the x1950xtx, much less the x1950xt in every category. It is faster, and supports dx10, which the x1950xt doesn't.
