What do i do?

I mean isn't there like 400 expansions, and am i gonna have to download 6000 different patches.

Is it a pain in the ass to get up and running? Or do i just buy the game.. then all the expansions seperately.. or are they all in a pack with the game i can buy? and then it just updates all the patches in one go..?

Oh man, im so confused.

Also, what are the specs to run it well? It doesn't look very demanding.

Not sure about the expansions, but there are only 4, and the first few are cheap as hell now. As for the performance, its not as easy to run as it used to be, requires decent CPU power and a medium to high GPU to run at max settings with good FPS.

Now is a good time to start playing since it is on sale. I'd strongly recommend you get the base game and all the expansion, that would be around $45 at the moment. Or if you prefer, you can get the Battle Chest, which has the base game and the first two expansions, which is $5 at this moment (with one month included) to test the game first. The game is pretty good so long as you have friends to play with. I recently quit because my guild stopped playing. As for downloading the game and patches, it does take a little while.

Someone on the WoW board said the game automatically updates and installs the patches when you run the setup.

Either way, it sounds alot less complicated than i thought, thanks for the help.

Yes, the game notifies you about updates and most of the time, you can play while the content is being downloaded.

Everyone plays the same version of the game no matter what. Expansions just unlock things.

I went back for the new expansion on a 10 day free trial. While I couldnt get into it, the entire download only took about 3-4 hrs.

Roughly what level is it you stop getting called a n00b by every single other player?

I remember i couldn't approach someone on Runescape without getting called a nub until i was like level 60, then i started getting the respect i earnt for all my countless hours of grinding.

And at what level does it stop being approriate to walk around begging high lvls for gold?

The base game, WotLK and TBC are bundled in the battlechest which you can buy for 5$, Cata can be bought for 10$ and MoP can be bought for 30$ on the official site. so 45$ total.

Furthermore, you will probably find them cheaper elsewhere if you know where to look.

Can't comment on the file size though, I have no idea how big the wow file is in its current state.

Im from Australia so the original Warcraft is probably still $50 by itself here. With the expansions being another $30 each. Can i get that battle chest edition in stores or is it a digital package only?

I am dying of boredom from not playing a MMO currently. Trust me when I say I really wanted to get into it again.

The battlechest has both a physical and digital edition. However, I am sure that the digital battle chest will be much cheaper than the retail chest. And last time I checked, installing the latest expansion installs the previous expansions as well. So the physical editions of the battlechest would be mostly only worth it if you want the physical copy (as something to collect or something similar). If you do want a physical copy, a price comparison price like the one I linked below would be a good idea to use to find the best deal.

Buy the games. There are 4 expansions, and they're lik 15-20 each.

There are about 20 patches, but if you have a good internet connection no need to worry, the downloads are automatic so there's no hussle there.

And yes, buy the games, install them and it updates automatically.

The Burning Crusdade and Wrath of The Lich King are no longer expansions, they are now part of the base game and everyone with a WoW account has them unlocked. Cataclysm and Mists of Pandaria are the only two expansions that you can buy, I would suggest playing to level 80 before buying an expansion, as you won't need either of them until 80.

Good luck and have fun in Azeroth!

I was never really a WoW-hater on the forums. I dont understand why its so hard to believe that I want to like WoW, I have over 400 days played across all my 10 80s. 80 days alone on my druid.

edit: time error

Lol, I thought my 25 days was excessive, I feel much better about it now, thanks.

PS: I think 400 days is enough to kill me.

IIRC when I last looked it was 419 or 423 or something. That was pretty much from 2005-2011 though. With a few month breaks scattered in between. Here I am trying to defend it like 400 days is normal lolz.

Just want to contribute my current experience: Haven't played WoW for probably 5-6 years. Tried Cataclysm but just couldn't be bothered getting back to my Undead Warlock. Since a week ago I'm on the trial of Mists and created a Pandaren. Even though some of the bad things of WoW are still there (too many fetch quests) I'm having a ball leveling my Panda. I feel some of the "Magic" I felt when I first played Vanilla WoW. Great time to get back into it.

Please don't praise popular games, it makes you look like a casual. On this fourm we only praise retro indie games or shooters not pubished by EA or Activision.

Because PC gamers are too cool to like popular games.
