I was going to buy a PS4 now wondering is there any point?

Infamous who cares and the Final Fantasy game is coming to PC anyway and will look much better than on PS4. As a PS3 and 360 owner who bought those systems for the exclusives I don't see anything at all from the next gen consoles that I won't get from PC Shame.

Why is it a shame? I haven't owned a console in well over twenty years and I don't feel like I've missed anything. If it's not on the PC it's probably not worth playing.

Well I'd be damn if 15 and KH shows up on PC. I'll give up consoles for good.

@-wildflower-: I've played lots of games on consoles that never made it to PC that were amazing games. This time round though the PC seems to have caught up.

Most next gen console games are coming out on PC now that absolutely was not the case last time around.

I will only get PS4 if they lower the price and give me at least $100 trade-in credit for my ps3 slim.

I'm guessing we probably have vastly different opinions on what constitutes "amazing." I have yet to see anything on a console that made me think, "damn, I wish I could play that." Not even the much ballyhooed Red Dead Redemption does it for me. Then again, I don't buy many of the "AAA" games that make their way to the PC either.

Yep it's the only one with exclusives but none of it appeals to me. Also I really hate their arrogance in shipping out an incredibly dated and underpowered console thinking everyone would buy their gimmicky family games. Total arseholes they deserve to fail IMO.

Well every platform is worth it if it has the games on it you want... Its that simple.

Performance doesn't mean a thing as advantage if that game is exclusive and as much as we knock the PS4 and X1 for being weak we need to keep in mind just how good GTA 5 looks and the Uncharted games and they are running on consoles with 512MB of RAM.

Personally I haven't caved yet but if Destiny is all its cracked up to be and doesn't come out on PC then I will probably get a PS4.

I know your tastes are quite different from the norm Flower, but there ARE some pretty good games on Playstation. Things like Uncharted, Heavy Rain and Metal Gear Solid to name a few.

TC, depends if you want to play the exclusives or not.

I have a PS4 but only because I'm a huge FIFA fan and play it on there, since it's the best system for it (they do international tournaments on Playstation). Other than that, it gathers dust since I play everything else on PC.

a good number of the JRPGs out there say hi...

gears of war 2+3 say hi.....

Zelda series says hi...

Mario Galaxy series says hi...

Metroid series says hi....

list goes on and on.... there are a LOT of very good... VERY worthwhile games that never come to PC.

it is worth it to own consoles, even if the multiplat games generally look better on PC. there are many games that are only on consoles that i am so happy that i did not miss

halo... the order... uncharted... drive club... grand tourismo... metal gear... infamous... the last guardian... zelda... mario... monster hunter...

those are just the games i can think of in 5 seconds....

i would consider missing on any of those a tragedy personally...

clearly you didn't really read what he said. he said "I don't feel like I've missed anything" that means that he isn't interested in console exclusives.

So you posting a list of console titles is rather pointless

probably the only thing i'll get from the consoles will be a ps4 controller at some point to use on my PC since by the looks of it, its slightly wider and will fit more nicely in my hands then a ps3 controller which i think will be great for playing games that don't feel right with mouse/keyboard.

As for a console, by the time I need a ps4 for anything it'll be costing less then 200 dollars probably... unless theres some unique console games to my liking.... as in a new Katamari game or something that would never be on pc that i must play.

Why would you buy a console that BARELY has a sufficient amount of games to play ? Be a rational consumer, not a hyped consumer. Don't buy boxie or post script yet ... not worth.

I'll buy PS4 when they release the slim version of it. By that time it should have some exclusives and be cheaper as well.

I don't see any point to buying a PS4 or X1. The vast majority of those games will be on the PC, and is always a better investment. Wii U I can definitely see the appeal, but it is very expensive.

I'm serious by the way these are just absolutely incredible RPGs and are indivually 2 or 3 times longer than any FF game.

Well if you got a medium level gaming PC today, you don't need consoles really.

Unless...

You need to play specific games that don't come to PC even if PC for this genre has superior games...

So it comes down to exclusives. Do you want to pay $400 + $50 for each exclusive? Its your call...

You buy consoles for the exclusives. I know I would have regretted not being able to play games like Red Dead Redemption, GTA5, The Last of Us, Lost Odyssey, Dragon Quest 8, the Infamous series, etc.

This is just silly. While my interest in consoles have waned, there are plenty of console games I've enjoyed that would be great if there was also a PC version.

I think the new console generation is set to be a bust if you game on PC. With the exception of the struggling Wii-U, The reasons for a PC gamer to own a console is increasingly getting slim. If you arent into sports games, or JRPGs, there really isnt much to find that you cant get alternatives with on PC. Even the music games like Rock Band and Dance Central are dead in the water on console. I feel that the PS4/XB1 are just releasing exclusives just for the sake of having exclusives, none of them are all that interesting compared to the 3rd party exclusive offerings that graced the PS2.

Fighting games are seeing PC releases, Quality shmups are appearing on Steam, there was a Final Fantasy game launched last week, we got a Platinum Game, two Ninja Theory games last year, Harmonix's PC game just launched open testing today there was a Grasshopper game released last week; all of which have been console centric developers and that's just scratching the surface. I think it's gonna improve even more with consoles using similar architecture to that of PCs.

As of now, the PS4's library of highly rated games are indie games that can probably run on the PS3 and most are already on PC.

If you already have a capable PC then the only console worth getting is a WiiU.

@faizanhd: I've played and completed all of those. I always hoped for a Planescape Torment 2 but it never happened. Final Fantasy is a very different experience to hardcore PC RPG's. I like all RPG's not just traditional though I miss turn based games a lot.

Just want to add I know there will be exclusives on PS4 and X1 but there just isn't enough on the horizon to warrant a purchase at the moment on either system. I was expecting them to hit the ground running but all the good games are on PC too so far.

The PC misses out on too many games each gen for me to sit out on consoles. I've had PS4 since Day 1 and I've found it nothing other than a perfect console to pair with my PC. Hell - I even picked up Battlefield 4 for it, and I'm just as satisfied (if not more) than I would've been if I picked it up for the PC. No Origin or Battlelog = me being a happy camper.

It also really depends if you have a segregated PC and Home Theater setup, or an integrated one. I prefer to keep my PC completely separate from my home theater setup, so to take advantage of my sound system, I stick to console titles. If you keep everything integrated in one setup, then I don't see as much of a reason to have a console. Personally, I can't pull it off - a PC with any extra cooling is too noisy for me to enjoy in my home theater setup. My PS4 is fast and dead-quiet, so I'm satisfied.
