how secure are steam accounts?
like if this guy decided to bruteforce my account or some other shenanigans, will he get it? i'm getting worried now. i'm going on vacation tomorrow and if the guy gets my account i can't stop him from getting me vac banned. valve will never lift that
i don't need this right now T_T
If you're worried about getting bruteforced, then don't make your password one word. It'd take weeks just to simply bruteforce a password with one word and two numbers.how secure are steam accounts?

EDIT: Really though, don't sweat it. I'm sure you're fine.
[QUOTE="REforever101"]If you're worried about getting bruteforced, then don't make your password one word. It'd take weeks just to simply bruteforce a password with one word and two numbers. Typically you want to include letters, numbers, and odd characters (%#@$!) in your password. It'll make it nearly impossible to crack. If you have a 9 character password containing letters 1-9, !-), and a-z... that's like 9.22190163 × 10^14 number of possibilities. Considering you have to contact the steam server everytime you try and log-in... that'd take a really, really long time.how secure are steam accounts?

How do you know it was bought by a stolen card? as far as your concerns are you just recieved the gift and you accepted it, nothing wrong with that. Valve have the ability to just cut it off your account so in a worse case you will just loose it.

It's a know scam/occurrence that has happened before. They don't remove games from your account, they just ban it restricting you from playing any and all games on it.
There was a similar thread a couple of months ago and the guy got his account banned for accepting a gifted game that was bought with a stolen credit card. They said it made him complicit in illegal activity. Again it's one of those worrying things about Steam usage and their ability to stop you playing your games. Report it, if they say it's legit then you'll get your game after a little delay, if its dodgy then you've done the right thing.
