Will it drop now when the new AMD:s are out?

You should get it anyway. It's a great CPU and worth the price.
Core 2 Duos have barely dropped in Price. still $289 for the E8600 and thats 2 gens old. Thats core i7 2600 territory. And the worst part is, people are still buying it! :o
Yes they do. The Q6600 was subject to a HUGE price drop back in the day. Also they often do a group price reduction.Has the i7 950 dropped its price? No, Intel dont drop their CPU prices.

I think the q6700 was $500-ish and dropped to sub $300 range + unreal 3 during the q9xxx release.
they will drop the price to compete if they have to. AMD hasn't given them any real competition for almost 6 years so intel had no reason to drop prices. With bulldozer around the corner, intel just might have to drop their prices or risk losing marketshare.
Gotta see how the BDs turn out first.they will drop the price to compete if they have to. AMD hasn't given them any real competition for almost 6 years so intel had no reason to drop prices. With bulldozer around the corner, intel just might have to drop their prices or risk losing marketshare.

I paid $179 for it at Micro Center. That was a month ago. With Socket 2011 and 1155 Ivy Bridge around the corner I highly doubt Intel is worried at the moment!they will drop the price to compete if they have to.
