What the F****?!
I don't think there is a 256mb DDR3 RAM stick for sale. I don't think your being fully honest on your specs dude.

Your build is closest to what I want, except I want the Asus P6T motherboard. How are the 4770s doing?sig + Corsair 750TX, Antec 300, 640GB WD 32mb

See my signature!
Just installed everything this afternoon and running Windows 7 RC 64-bit.
So far, smooth as butter!
I just ordered an Asus Xonar D1 7.1 sound card to go along with these specs I already have.
My Rig:
* Antec 902
* Asus P6T6 WS Revolution
* Core i7 920
*Arctic Cooling MX-2 Thermal Compound
* Xigmatek Dark Knight 120mm CPU cooler
* OCZ 6GB DDR3 1600
* 2x Western Digital Caviar Black 640gb HDD
* GTX 260
* Zalman 750w PSU
Do I have to buy another CPU cooler if I don't plan to overclock? It is an extra $40...I just ordered an Asus Xonar D1 7.1 sound card to go along with these specs I already have.

You're a F**king genius.Do I have to buy another CPU cooler if I don't plan to overclock? It is an extra $40... i7's are a waste if gaming alone. It's like buying a Ferrari for going 100K/Mh, sure its fast and cool, but are you going to go over 100K/Mh (CS3, Photoshop etc)? Also i7's are a waste if not going to O/C. It's like buying a Ferrari, and putting on tires that burn out after you go over 10K/mh. In all, if your stinking rich IRL, go for it ;)[QUOTE="jakarai"]

I find using crysis as a benchmark useless. World in conflict is a better benchmark.
I should be playing crysis at 2020x1800 flawlessly but I am not and it's a 3 year old game.
I have heard it favours NVIDIA, which figures to be honest.
Love my setup but the 4870X2 does get extremely hot.ATI say don't worry but the cynic in me,does worry.
Great GPU though.I am playing stalker with the 2009 mod and it's a whole new experience.
Empire total war plays fantastic to.
My 3DMARK VANTAGE score is 16220.

He never said it was a bad processor. His analogy is a bit....well, confusing for those to understand if they don't know much about the i7.
The i7 processors are indeed the fastest type of CPU that any average joe can currently get their hands on. You will pay more for that luxury. Here's how to kind of break things down:
i7 is the fastest CPU out there for rendering/video editing and those sorts of things.
The Phenom II x4 940/945/955 play games just as well as the i7. What gamerking178 was trying to get across was, if you're just building a rig and only plan on gaming with it, you can spend less money on a CPU/MB/RAM by going with AMD's Phenom II processors. When comparing benchmarks in games from the i7 and Phenom II x4 both processors are pretty much a tie. The i7 wins in some, the Phenom II x4 wins in others or they run neck and neck.
I hope that makes a little more sense to you. Obviously I didn't explain it in very great detail, but I got the general idea across.
Your build is closest to what I want, except I want the Asus P6T motherboard. How are the 4770s doing?

They are working great, they are supposed to be great overclockers as well. But good luck finding them now, they are sold out EVERYWHERE lol, just try googling it! IOC the CPU to 3.4 because im just running it on the stock cooler and the tempsseem to be fine under load, mind you, I got the D0 stepping which are supposed to be a little cooler. Maybe later on I'll get a cooler and push it a bit more. In all honesty, theres really no need to though.I still feel like the computer is kind of overkill but at least it has encouraged 3 of my friends to upgrade their computers after seeing how mine runs. So now I have more realfriends to play stuff with :D

Really? All I found so far was that the Phenom II X4 was comparable to the Q9550. The i7 has outscored the Phenom II in all gaming benchmarks I came across.Please Log In to post.
