i have a 160 GB IDE harddrive and 500 SATA drive...can i use both in my computer???

As long as your motherboard has ports for both, which it should.

I'd also like to point out that if you use an IDE and a SATA drive in the same computer, you may have to change some BIOS settings to specify which drive the computer should boot from. I know that was the case with my old desktop I bought in 2003 (back when SATA was just coming out), so it could still be an issue to watch for.

I'd also like to point out that if you use an IDE and a SATA drive in the same computer, you may have to change some BIOS settings to specify which drive the computer should boot from. You make a good point. Sometimes setting up the main drive can be tricky at first.

I have anIDE and 2 SATAs and all i had to do is configure the boot order the same as you'ld have to do if you'ld normally have to do with multiple HDDs, only takes a couple seconds
