Probably, I havnt played WoW in ages. but I loved the Undead Campaign ect so WOTLK provides a decent "Nerdgasm".
PvP beta for Age of Conan was quite trashy, the PvE wasnt bad for 1-5 though , im in the FP beta now on may 1st for my final judgement, otherwise its WOTLK.
I'm not even bothering with Warhammer online , pure WoW clone with PvP focus, more than likely an overall shallow game in terms of options and gameplay, and wont be near as fleshed out. ( Yea yea Warhammer fanboys, I dont care about how WoW *Stole* Warhammer's story" ... nobody should, Blizzard makes better games, thats simple fact.
when D&D was coming out people said it would hurt WoW, then WoW hit 8 million accounts; when LOTRO was coming out everyone said it would be competition for WoW and WoW hit 10 million accounts. People will post how AoC will kill WoW, then how Warhammer will be the WoW killer, then how "fill in the blank" will be the WoW killer yet WoW will still grow. I know a lot of people don't care for it on these boards or hate the fact it's so popular but give blizzard props for making a very fun game that anyone can play. I wish more game companies would focus on game play then graphics.
*yes I know the number of accounts are marketing gimmicks but I'm using them to show the games popularity keeps rising.
WoW is like "home" for me. Even if there is a good game out there, WoW will be where my fondest memories are. If I do love Conan, chances are I will still return to WoW at a later time.
Ive enjoyed LOTRO and even Tabula Rasa, but never for more than 3 months.
I'm in this dilemma. I played the closed pvp beta from gamespot and got my key for the fileplanet open beta but I wasn't for lack of a better term "WoW'd" when I played through some of the game. Dont get me wrong there are fresh things there that enticed me, mostly the blood and combat but if AoC fails then that means a new WoW expansion at the holidays would get anyone's MMO fix in. Anyone else thinking the sameFerraraZ23
Im not sure, Wow was the first mmo in the world that had everyone's attention, dont get me wrong Wow in its early stages wasnt a fully completed game and this will be the same for Aoc,patches over time will fix/balance the game, though id really like to give Aoc a chance. Im not sure how Aoc will fail, it got quite afew awards from E3 etc. The game sounds promising, we'll just have to wait and see.
I haven't played AoC but if its anything like Funcom's other MMO, Anarchy Online at launch+4 years WoW has nothing to be worried about.
In general, WoW has nothing to worry about in any near future. Warhammer Online will do some damage, being from the guys who made DAOC - i.e. very, very fun PvP.
In the end though, WoW has a choke-hold on the MMO market. LOTRO stands in its shadow delivering solid gameplay (virtually WoW-type, but with grown up graphics - more enticing storyline for me too)
Do I care about any of it? No. I invested 5 years in EQ - watched the investment plummet when better games came out - did the same for WoW til Burning Crusade came out.
The fact is for me that I don't have the time to raid with people from Kentucky for 5 hours drinking coke and chatting about pixels in game.
I'm more than happy playing a few games on PC, and mainly gaming on my Xbox 360 which offers contrite, rich gaming sessions with little to no downtime. Win/win.
Why do people refer to games as if they are living things? WoW doesn't have a choke hold on the MMO marker, Blizzard do. WoW doesn't have anything to worry about, because it can't, Blizzard might however.
I might try age of conan because it looked pretty good in the video I saw, but Warhammer just looked plain terrible. As for WoW, I don't play as often now as I used to, obviously when you've played for as long as it's been out, but I don't see myself missing WoTLK for any other MMO.
