I lost control of my bowels while watching the new video. SkeptomaniaHmm, you might want to consider cleaning that up.
crysis can't flop for the simple reason that the only reason everyone is excited about it is the visuals, and they're already amazing - technology is crytek's strongsuit, the company can't fail
if it plays bad - if it's a rubbishy game - doesn't matter at all.. sure, some people want it for the uh, you know, the gameplay... but, like gears of war, it'd have been overlooked by most people if it weren't so beautiful, and probably found its way onto a your favourite underrated games threads a few years later
and some people would read it, and take a look at screenshots and think, it sounds neat - but it just doesn't look good enough
that's the one and only reason why crysis can't fail - it looks plenty good enough
Agreed. I just really hope the gameplay is at least decent, but to be honest, I'm not so sure. Crytek isn't really the best developer when it comes to engaging singleplayer experiences. Well, at the very least it will be something pretty to look at...crysis can't flop for the simple reason that the only reason everyone is excited about it is the visuals, and they're already amazing - technology is crytek's strongsuit, the company can't fail

Um no they can't, if you think making games with good graphics is so easy, then why don't you make a game with better graphics than Crysis. It is very hard to make a game look as good as crysis AND have it run at a decent fps.ElectricNZ
Thats not what he was saying, he was just saying he gets impressed by story and gameplay, but graphic only games don't impress him. I for one think Crysis looks like it has alot of gameplay, and the graphics make a big part of that, along with the destructibele buildings.
I don't think the game will flop well atleast sales wise. I will be buying it when it releases but I have to admit, I'm not really impressed especially with all the hype surrounding this game because the only I hear about is the graphics and physics granted I haven't keeping up with the information being released for this game or any other game. I just simply wait until it releases.
And the way that I look at it, the graphics and physics etc was bound to happen sooner or later. So bring on the gameplay and fun factor!.
[QUOTE="ElectricNZ"]But you said anyone can do it, so if you had a team of 100 x you, you could make it better?BounceDKYeah. You said yes. No I didnt think Crysis was made by 1 man, you said anyone can do it. I've had to quote myself twice to explain what was already simple to understand. You keep misinterpreting everything I say, either by purpose or you have bad English understanding.

Crysis is Farcry 2 basicly and Farcry was a pretty good FPS game. I'm sure Crysis will be the same. I still like games like STALKER & Bioshock better, more survival-horror, better atmosphere, more openended, more interesting settings and story ect . . .
I dunno why everyone talks about Crysis.
The game is gonna be the same as Farcry with some Ice and aliens.
I would rather like to play Stalker cause this game tries to be different than all the other Halo-AlienVSHuman shooter.
But since it doesnt run on my system im f***ed
But in Crysis you are superman with your pumped suit, you leap over buildings, you can withstand bullets ... sounds lovely and pretty boring.I dunno why everyone talks about Crysis.

But take away the awesome graphics and open-ended outdoor environments and it would have been just average, if even that. The game especially went downhill after those mutants got out and they phased out the mercs. It just wasn't the same after that... So you can see where I'm going with this. exactly the same for me - i stopped playing farcry a little after the treehouses bit (never bothered finishing it), just hated all the stupid mutants - and crysis has been announced as being split into three stages - the jungle with humans, an icy jungle with (???) a mixture of humans and aliens, and an alien environment
so it's pretty much running by the exact same formula as far cry did - at least aliens are cooler (and, strangely, more believable) than mutants - but surely crytek should've learned that it's humans everyone wants to kill, not monsters
but with the simple wyswyg level editor i just learned today (thanks to another thread) is coming with the game, i definitely see no reason to not get crysis now

False.
Bunch of people here that don't know what they're talking about. Farcry was rated AAA by Gamespot, IGN, Gamespy, PC gamer and a whole bunch of other reviewers for a reason. If you haven't played Farcy beyond just the demo, then shut you yapper! I wasn't impressed by the demo but the game blew me away. If you have played it all the way through and you didn't like it then you just suck.

What you say there doesn't really make any sense. The great graphics and open ended environements were the whole point of FarCry. You take that away and essentially its not the same game.
However, i do agree about what you said about the mutants. They sucked big time! Killing Mercs was much more fun.
What happened to opinions? Just because most gaming sites gave it a good review, everyone should love it? And if they don't they just plain suck. What I mean when I say if you take away the graphics and open levels, Far Cry was pretty bland from a pure gameplay perspective. Now don't get me wrong, Far Cry was a very good game, but the gameplay IMO was mostly average. Shooting always felt kind of hollow and pointless, the story was just awful etc. But when you combined all those negatives with the positives, Far Cry was still a good game. And see, when you say "The great graphics and open ended environements were the whole point of FarCry" is exactly what I mean. Crytek can make beautiful visuals, no doubt. But judging from Far Cry, they are severely lacking in the gameplay department. But since they have only made one game so far, we'll have to wait and see before passing any kind of final judgment. It's impossible for it to flop imo....Staryoshi87Whenever I think this, EA always manages to surprise me.
anyone who has skills in 3d moddeling and texturing could make graphics on par with crysisArtosaNo they can't. 3D modeling and texturing is only the underlying base. Then there's the special effects, post processing and coding, animating. I know a lot of people who have made 3D renders look much better than Crysis, but those take days to render that single frame, putting incredible graphics into a REALTIME engine is another matter, being able to make such good graphics while being able to play it at such a framerate is why it's so good.
