I pick answer 1. I would buy the Steambox if it were $1000 at launch if it meant playing HL3 early.ZubinenThis. This 1000%
If Half Life 3 was a launch title for the Steam Box, it would STILL be available on PC. I would probably buy the Steam Box, but I wouldn't buy it for Half Life 3. I would buy it so I could play my existing Steam Games on the big screen when I dont feel like playing on my PC and I just want to kick back on the couch.

Sorry guys, if HL3 was Steambox exclusive (even if just for early on), I'd get it JUST for this game.
Though in this scenario I'm assuming HL3 get amazing critical reviews (like, AAAA on GS) and the Steambox has support from other companies and a buttload of other games on it as well to keep my interest.
If Steambox was $1000 and only launched with HL3, well... it would be a hard decision, but no. I draw the line at $600 for a new system and I'd need proof it would have some fantastic exclusives and support first.
It would be prebuilt but upgradable... So basically a PC.... What's the point then?Steam Box, if it happens, will be a prebuilt PC...why would I want that?

Even if this Steambox thing is real, I cannot imagine that Half-life 3 wouldn't come out simultaneously on Steam itself, being Valves proprietary online service. How could they not release their own game day 1? It would be a bit of a slap in the face to everyone that has supported them over the years.
Isn't the 'Steambox' just speculated to be a pre-built PC, designed to bring console gamers into PC gaming?
I mean, I don't see it getting exclusive titles (since it will presumably just share its library with your PC Steam account), and I certainly don't see Valve abandoning their massive fanbase for a fanbase that they have yet to establish. So this seems like a completely unrealistic scenario to me.
Anyway, I guess it's somewhere between one and two for me. Depends on what the Steambox ends up being (if it exists at all), and how long it'll take to get a PC port.
Well if it does happen then it'll be basically a new console with own exclusives and I think most PC gamers don't want that. And if it's just a pre-built PC, why buy it then if you already got a good enough gaming PC?
I think Valve won't jump into the hardware biz.
I doubt it would even have exclusives. Why is it being called the "Steam Box?" It is in no way affiliated with Microsoft. Even Steam-Cube would be better. Wait that sounds stupid too lol. To answer your question, I would buy it.Elann2008What about SteamStation, or the Valve Steam-cast? Steam-64? :P

Shhhhhh! Zenimax are listening!
Personally, I would love that name (Valve Steam-cast). I'm a Dreamcast fanboy. :P jk Steamstation sounds like I'm about to go to work lol
Chose the second option. I wouldn't buy another console just to play one exclusive, no matter how good it is.
However, I might very well be interested in a console that was guaranteed to play ALL of my Steam games on my TV. And with the proviso that more than one player can log into their Steam account at the same time (a la Xbox LIVE) for local co-op gaming.
I answered 2, though my cursor was fluctuating between 1 and 2. I wouldn't buy the steam box (console I assume?) only for HL3, but if Valve gave news of a new generation of games developed under the platform, I'd definately consider it. I would still find it retarded if they created their own console when the PC IS basically a Steam Box. Piracy? Not a big issue with Steam. Even though I can easily access many steam games for free, I prefer to buy them because 1.) It's messy as hell trying to run a cracked steam game, and 2.) Valve/steam is worth the money. I love being able to easily install on any PC and have my library so neatly organized and accessible, not to mention the prices are insanely good. I'm always so tempted buy the bundles, even if I already own one of the games included.
