Yes, you will be able to play Old Republic on Full Graphics, and BF4 on maybe full.

You are paying premium though cause it's an Alienware. You can get cheaper PCs that are more powerful than that.

Alienware make good computers, but what's that alien logo worth to you? Because that's the only reason you're paying the premium price. Like Felipe said if $900 is your budget you can build a custom PC for less than that and it'd still be more powerful, unless you're in Australia then prepare to pay through your nose lol.

Base model of X51 there is no way in hell you be playing BF4 on high or on max graphics , the only options you have for the gpu's are AMD 270 and a GTX 760 and the 760 is an extra $450 what a joke when you can buy one for under $250.

Here is an desktop for less then the X51 but has a stronger gpu as an example

HERE

Depends how much you want to spend on it. Video Cards range from $300 to $1500.

A GTX 760 would be nice, but if your budget can stretch a little a GTX 770 would be perfect. If you want to go full ninja and kick ass than the GTX 780 says hello.

Most video cards come with both DVI and HDMI connectors, which need to match the same type of connector on the monitor.

HDMI carries sound as well, but use DVI if you can.

I've always had better results with DVI, both graphically and technically (standby modes, resolution detection etc). HDMI is fine though, lots of people use it.

PS: you need to quote people here if you respond directly to someone or else they never know you responded.

LOL they offer to install R9 270 for 300$ extra

Go and build yourself some good gaming rig or at least don't buy Alienware, because nothing is good except for the cool logo.

For $3K+ I would hope so. Laptops are different though as you can't really build your own.

I agree with the others on the base Alienware desktop though. That won't be able to play BF4 anywhere close to high or ultra settings and the upgrade to a card that can is astronomical. OP you should make another thread with your gaming PC budget along with what else will be needed (OS, keyboard, mouse, monitor, etc.) and let forum members piece something together for you on PCpartpicker.com.

Dual link DVI has more bandwidth and suppor 60Hz at 2560*1600 res I believe while HDMI is locked to 60Hz at 1080P or 1200P... Single link DVI is pretty much the same as HDMI... It can even carry sound I believe, though not normal.

@horgen:

DVI can carry audio, you need a DVI to HDMI adapter
