If I buy Sim City, am I renting it, or owning it? Because EA is known for shutting down their servers once a game isnt that popular anymore. I don`t think that will happen to Sim City anytime soon, because the game actully require you to play always be online, but eventully they will shut down the servers, then what? Have anyone confronted these asshole with that? Can I pick this game up from my shelve and play it 20 years from now on, like we can with our old games these days? Because paying that amount of money to rent a game seems pretty awkward to me.

Just get SimCity 2004. No always-online, and it's a far better game.

Also this. Once you play it for 25-30 hours it just starts to get pointless because you're dependent on other people playing/updating their cities, or you're getting tired of having to macro manage different cities in one "region". It's a lame, lame game.

Yeah. Seriously. If you're interested because you've enjoyed previous SimCity games... that's exactly why you SHOULDN'T be interested.

I agree that forcing people to interact with other people in games that are suppose to be single player is wrong.

I've never played Sim City since the harsh reviews and negative fan feedback have made it difficult to purchase the game at full price. I also dislike the AODRM and the small "cities". If you're itching for a city builder sim I'd recommend Cities XL or Tropico 4, both are insanely fun and have no AODRM. I've heard that Anno 2070 is worth mentioning although I never played it myself but it's another title to look into.

Neither. You're licensing a single person to play the game, but only on their terms. It's similar to buying a ticket to a theme park. You don't have ownership, you just get to use their rides the way they tell you to. If the park happens to be closed on the day you'd like to be there, that's just too bad. You may lose access to your game at any time for virtually any reason at the discretion of the game publisher. Welcome to the fascinating world of intellectual property. Renting it would be similar except that you can't share the game experience with a friend unless he also bought the game because it is tied to your e-mail account. I'm not even sure renting PC games is possible anymore.

Not watching music videos, and falling behind on my Daft Punk, apparently. :P

I guess they used it in a commercial advertisement. It used to be 'sex sells' now you just need excessive lens flares.

Upon following a trail of youtube videos, it seems Daft Punk has used those robot outfits in a few videos, including Robot Rock, but that particular clip is from the SNL ad for their upcoming Coachella show, featuring Pharrell. Shit's groovy. And yeah. Lens flares.

They use the helmets on every poster, image, and at every concert.  They do not support celebrity worship, and keep their faces secret.  There's a couple imgaes of them on google, but very few.  They hide their faces in interviews, as well.

That's pretty damn sweet. I've been listening to Daft Punk for years, but never seen them live, or watched any music videos, or anything like that. Now I feel like I'm going to be up all night following this trail of youtube videos.

My favorite game in the world is Sonic the Hedgehog. Explain that to a kid who sees Sim city the same way I see that game in 20 years.

Publishers want you to know your just renting the game. They can pull servers at any time which will make your online only game completely useless.
