Will my old games that are compaitable with xp be compaitable with vista. Sorry for all the ?'s.cjgangsta
yes they will
Warning! I installed vista over my xp using the upgrade option. It does give you all your existing documents and programs ready for use in vista.
BUT! I had a huge problem in that it would not recognise my sound card, it would not utilise my graphics card, and it would only use my wireless device after lots of messing round. I was left with a good pc running on 800 x 600 with no aero or visual effects of any kind, no sound and a lot of problems every time I wanted to go online.
I had to reinstall xp from scratch because if you upgrade you cant go back if it doesnt work or you dont like it. It was a major pain in the arse.
I seriously advise you to do a dual boot to see if it is fully compatible with your machine and then transfer yor files over if its all ok. You might consider having dual boot as a permanent option so you can still get the benefits of xp for games. I now have xp and vista on dual boot but my problems with vista persist. I've tried fixing it but in vain but I'm leaving it on for when all drivers are fully supported in vista.
Sorry for long post but my point is be careful when doing the upgrade!

Yeah you gott upgrade youre drivers once you Get Vista on and after that youre set
no i still have major problems with vista. Ive posted about it on all sorts of forums and its still not solved. Its due to a conflict in how vista allocates resources to my graphics card and the pci bus. If I boot to xp everything works fine but if I boot to vista it wont use the card due to a lack of resources, even though its the same pc. vista allocates resources in a different manner to xp.
Regardless of my situation, you should be careful when installing vista, and thats just a general rule when you're putting anything on your pc
