This is my build

-AMD Phenom II X4 965 BE 3.4ghz

-6 GB Ram

-750gb HDD

-850W PSU

-msi 790FX

i was thinking of along the lines of a MSI GTX 260 Twin Frozr and when the time comes upgrade or add another. But i dont know if thats a good card, there is also a ASUS GTX 260 for around the same price and also a XFX 260. I know there's other cheaper and maybe even better cards out there but how would i know, i dont even know what to choose.:?

Hope we don't have a Nvidia fanboy here.

What's your budget? Around ~$220?

if you absolutely must get a 260, I'd get this one. Also, you know that you can't do SLI on that board (without hacking - which we can't talk about here)? Would you be interested in a SLI board?

Either that person was a complete idiot or a Nvidia fanboy. A 5770 is cheaper, has DX11, consumes less power - yet that dude recommends a GTX 260.kaitanuvax
wait a minute, doesn't it depend on which 260 it is? and maybe he said that because the OP would make use of CUDA or something. I dunno. What about this?:
.
And I thought you were gonna recommend the 4890, so that's why I went: :?

I decided to go all the way and get a XFX 5850 Black edition. Is that a wise choice? Taking into account that i will be upgrading to two in the future

The core 216 costs around $200.

I would've - if it weren't for the fact that they're practically EOL'ed now.

Unless you game at 2560x1500 or higher, I won't see a need for crossfire for the next 3-4 years at least.

Oh, my bad I thought you were saying it performed better when you didn't say that. I'm sorry for the misunderstanding. I'm an idiot; lol. OP: You won't regret the 5850. :)

Good thing you're keeping the rig all AMD. Now you can use fusion.

You're kidding me, right? Can anybody show some benchmarks that show a real-world advantage to this?

Don't knock it till you try it. It's not like it does something out of the ordinary, it ends programs you don't need while gaming to save memory and cpu clocks. It can also synchronize with AMD overdrive and Catalyst to overclock your hardware if you don't already have your hardware OC'd. It's mainly a time saver for the average PC user. At the click of a button it sets a bloated system up for gaming so you don't have to do it manually. It takes my PC from having 68 processes running down to 38 processes, and ram usage went from 30% down to 25%. I don't use the OC features as I do those on my own. If you've got an uber rig you won't notice a thing, but its still nice to have.

Get one HD5770 and later on in the year Crossfire it when it needed, one 5770 can keep up with a GTX260 just fine and is cheaper two of them can easily keep up with a HD5870. If you don't that advice then spend another $50 and get a HD5850, buying a $200 GPU in 2010 that isn't DX11 compatible would be bad decision.
