is there any down side to using an nvidia board with ATI cards? i would consider changing to an AMD board but im really uneducated with AMD CPU's and boards so yeah.

im asking this because im trying to choose between the GTX 260 and radeon 4850. i've looked at benches and RIGHT NOW, the 4850 is a bit faster than the 260 but the 260 is still in very early drivers, so idk if i should just wait.

No downside, unless you want to crossfire, which most intel boards don't support very well.

You can install a 4850/4870 card on any motherboard that has a pci-express slot, including Intel boards.

well yeah, but it wouldn't make much sense (to me at least) to get an sli board if you're not going to use sli..
