If there is going to be a new race in Starcraft 2...

What do you think they would be?

How do you think they would operate?

And how likely do you think this is to happen?

The hybrids, xel-naga and the UED(if they will come back) most likely will be the new race(s).

I saw one interview from samwise that they are working on a new race already for the expansion for HotS.

A race of sentient machines, because that's the only sci-fi cliche Starcraft didn't incorporate yet.

One of the 'things' about Starcraft is it's 3 unique and balanced races. I doubt they will add another.

Yeah if they would introduce a new race into SC2 it would have to be something akin to, acolytes/heralds/whatever of the Xelnaga. Most of the races incorporated in the game already are pretty much huge players in the SC2 galaxy. Anything else would be very hard to mesh into the canon considering a distinct lack of any mention of a fourth race that didn't contribute as much to the state of the galaxy as any of the other three(beyond the Xelnaga of course)

I believe Brood War never happened (t's not clear, but that's the general conclusion), but the UED should try "again". It would make sense for them to be forced to ally with Raynor/whoever in order to stop the Xel'Naga.

Chaos space marines. They already have the Imperium of Man as the Terrans, Tyranids as Zerg and Eldar as Protross.

There won't be a 4th race for multiplayer. Maybe for Singleplayer but definitely not for multiplayer.

An army of Spartans (the ancient spartans in that sense). Some aliens are needed to be kicked into holes.

It'd be pretty sweet if the UED came back and they've advanced technologically to the point where it's a robotic super-army.F1_2004

There is no mention of the UED in the official videos A New Era and Uncertain Future. Perhaps they selectively chose events, however large portions of Brood War are ignored.

Ahh good point Sheppard212. I assumed you meant the entire expansion, but the UED doesn't have much in SC2 if at all(I've read some speculation and theory so I'm not sure what's real or not haha)

I find it depressing that Dugaule (sp?) was completely forgotten, he was my favorite character and his death was epic (I've watch the BW ending dozens of times). Perhaps if the UED happened by to give the "Eternal Swarm" a bloody nose, that would be nice.
