What would they be?

For me, this is very hard.. but I will try. I'm allowing ties because of my own indecisiveness :P

1- Mass Effect series. Until very recently, I would have put the Half-life games up here at the top. I picked up ME and ME2 for dirt cheap, and have been so hooked that it's unhealthy. The storylines, character development, variety of environments, romance options, graphics, production quality, yadayadayada.. It's pretty much all there.

2- Half-life series. Need I say more?

3- Dark Forces/Jedi Knight series. Classics.. All of them.

4- This is a tie between Wing Commander and Freespace. I loved both series so much that I couldn't choose. I would pay $100 or more for a decent new game in either series.

5- Need for Speed series. Now I know that quite a few of the newer titles in this series (post 2006) have pretty much sucked.. But there were so many great ones that I think the series still deserves a ton of respect. The original Hot Pursuit (NFS 3) may be my favorite of the bunch.

Not in any particular order : 1) Battlefield series - Played Heroes, 2, 2142, Bad Company 2 and loved all of them. Great FPSs with extremely good online component. 2) Need for Speed series - Great racers, loved almost everything I played(Hot Pursuit 2, Hot pursuit 2010, Underground 2, Undercover, Carbon). Some were decent and some were great, still, the best arcade racers I've played 3) Battle for the Middle Earth series - Loved both the RTSs, absolutely great. I still play BFME2 4) Total War series - Amazing TBSes, still playing Medieval 2 and Napoleon, waiting for Total War : Shogun 2 5) Rollercoaster Tycoon series - Played all 3, loved all 3. Still finding a digital download for RC3 Platinum

  • Deus Ex - I love the cyberpunk universe and its intricate story about a huge conspiracy.
  • Unreal - The Crysis of 1998, with beautiful landscapes, and by far the best utilization of the engine, with a great story and good AI.
  • Gothic series - By far, the best 3D WRPG, with life like scripted NPC's, deep satisfying combat, wonderful story, and detailed world.
  • Max Payne series - Story about a man struggling to defeat he's past demons and trying not to loose what little sanity is left in he's mind.
  • Age of Empires - 3rd one being my favorite, with a fantastic campaign.

Can't put only series.

Monkey Island is the only one I can think of atm that I will add to this thread. Basically all of the point and click adventure titles from around the time Monkey Island first came out were awesome though so if I can say all of Lucasarts Point & Click Adventure titles as a game series I choose that instead. (Day of the Tentacle being my fav)

-Doom

-Quake

-Heretic/Hexen (each had 2 games but are part of the same storyline)

-Guild Wars

-STALKER

Despite the top 5 I really can't play FPS anymore because most are so bland :S.

In no particular order:

- STALKER: some of the best shooter-based games I've ever played. These games define PC gaming for me.

- Crysis: fantastic shooters with a surprising amount of depth, making it the ultimate super soldier experience.

- Need For Speed: I love all games up to Hot Pursuit 2. The series went downhill with Underground, but luckily recuperated itself marvellously with Hot Pursuit 2010.

- Age of Empires: I'm not really into RTS, but AoE, especially the third, is really among my favourite games of all time.

- Jazz Jackrabbit: only 2 games and 2 expansions in this 'series', but I keep coming back to these games. Especially Jazz Jackrabbit 2 has an infinite lasting appeal.

Did you ever play Most Wanted? The story was so terrible it became amazing, and the rest of the game was great fun - the freeroaming police chases were probably my favorite NFS thing ever, and I'm disappointed that it didn't make an appearance in NFS 2010.

1. Flight Simulator - It's been around longer than I've been gaming (at home).

2. Tomb Raider

3. IL-2 Sturmovik/Forgotten Battles/Pacific Fighters - Set the pace for WW2 flight sims throughout this decade

4. Battlefield

That's it for me. I don't have many games that I would consider a series.

I take that back.

5. Command and Conquer - I enjoyed it at least up to C&C 3.

It's the only one I haven't played (along with Shift), and supposedly it's the only really good one. Will have to try later.
