[QUOTE="GazaAli"]Witcher 2. i didnt enjoy the first one much ,but it was definitely playable. DAO and turn based combat is not my cup of tea at all.mkaliaz
LMAO...turn based combat? You didnt ever play DAO, did you?
i dont know what you call it, but yes i played an hour or so of the game, and yes the combat is ****.I thoroughly enjoyed The Witcher (PC) but I had issues with game bugs that hindered my experience, just a bit. Even with a very powerful rig, especially at that time, I was still experiencing weird game bugs that I couldn't explain. Anyways.. to answer your question, if I HAD to choose one, it would be Dragon Age Origins 2, and here's why. I'm a big fan of BioWare - their technology, story-telling with massive and intelligent dialogue, I like the era/timeline of the game, and almost everything is well done like voice acting, character and visual design. The Witcher, although this my sound bias, will never come close to the powerful, story-driven, entity that BioWare is. BW is a very talented group of developers and I've been a follower ever since. My only GRIPE with DAO is the graphics. Ironically, the Mass Effect series looks beautiful, but DAO clearly wanders off from that plethora of ingenuity.
As to the other poster above about turn-based combat/gameplay. I wouldn't go as far as saying "turn-based." The way you seem to be describing it can make almost all games sound turn-based. It plays just like an MMORPG, dungeon-crawler. And that's the best way I could describe it.

And is it a sequel or a prequel from Witcher 1's story? sorry , don't have much info on that, they will be holding a press conference this month with more info. Although if you are missing the cards try out some of the mods , they do add quite a bit of new cards
I won't lie, I'm going to buy Both, but The Witcher 2 will be my pick easily! I like the story, the characters, and the fact it was a solo Hero! Immersion in my RPGs is paramount and I really felt that Gerald fit the bill nicely. I liked the different acts tho some where VERY tedious, the music was great and the ending was very satisfying with a great movie to finish it.
DOA, I loved as well. The story, of course, was great, but I felt that I had played it before. Action was entertaining and the animations were sinply gorgeous. I had a terrible time bonding to my character tho. I felt like it wasn't mine at all and that really threw it out of being an RPG to a action game for me.
I feel The Witcher 2 will be the more satisfying game!
Didn't really care for the Witcher and I really liked DA:O, but I unless I get something to distinguish it from the first ( first thing that comes to mind is NWN style multiplayer) I'll probably just stick with the original.
Witcher 2 easily Dragon Age was to boring for my tastes I like my Witcher and the storyline in Witcher was A LOT better and the twist I don't know I just thought it was awesome
Its a hard choice , but i would have to go with Dragon Age. I just like Origins more than Witcher . As i said : both are good games and i bet sequels will be good as well .
The witcher, i am not ready for another bioware rpg "Save the world OMG OOOOOO!!! Be a hero or a villian and make ton of dialogue choices!!" Needless to speak that the form in which the story evolves in all bioware game is very similar. Ill stick with witcher which was a diffirent rpg with many things done diffirently from most other games out there.dakan45
I dont see anything bad in games being similar : lots of dialog , choices , character driven sotry and biger focuse on the story than gameplay. There are already lots of games who focuse only on gameplay and graphics , so its nice to have someone like Bioware to make games like they are making now.
Ofc im not saying your opinion is wrong or so... everyone has theyr own opinion and i think lots of ppl wouldnt want that bioware would start to make diferent games .

Just read your post: "I dont see anything bad in games being similar : lots of dialog , choices , character driven sotry and biger focuse on the story than gameplay" All bioware games are dialogue focused with less combat and exploration with too many dialogues, Plus there are many similarities in the story. "There are already lots of games who focuse only on gameplay and graphics , so its nice to have someone like Bioware to make games like they are making now." ...and bioware has already made too many games that focus on dialogue choices and such. You could say that all they know to do is recycle their ideas since most of them have similar plot outcomes and facts. As for graphics, just because dragon age didnt look that good, that does not make all the other bioware games to not focus on graphics, especially since they all have very good graphics for their time. Lets just say that i got tired of this whole "create your character, talk to people, make dialogue choices" I would rather seeing playing the role of a single premade character and following the story without making many dialogue choices and having a diffirent combat / character cl@ss system without choosing if you wanna be an archer, or a soldier, etc,etc[QUOTE="kazakauskas"][QUOTE="dakan45"]The witcher, i am not ready for another bioware rpg "Save the world OMG OOOOOO!!! If you are bored from bioware games - dont play them . Is this that hard ?
There is much more games where they make you play as single person who just folow some uninteresting story with characters you dont give a crap about (note : im not talking about witcher) . Heck , i dont know why everyone is whining about DAO sotry . Yes you are the hero who saves the world , but come on .. all games are like that. Yes , you fight ultimate evil - again all games fight ultimate evil ( from that character perspective) . But bioware are only of few who can make that "repetetive" story interesting and epic.
I have to agree about those simple mage , archer , warrior stuff , but when you think about it - there is not much you can change in there.

Sorry you lost me at "bioware emotions" and "bioware are only of few who can make that "repetetive" story interesting and epic." No way  Id rather play the witcher which has the right amount of dialogue, combat and exploration without overdoing it in one of those factors.[QUOTE="kazakauskas"][QUOTE="dakan45"] Just read your post: "I dont see anything bad in games being similar : lots of dialog , choices , character driven sotry and biger focuse on the story than gameplay" All bioware games are dialogue focused with less combat and exploration with too many dialogues, Plus there are many similarities in the story. I did notice one thing about your posts : whenever you say that games isnt that good (or good at all) all your arguments are you whining (and yes , you usually are whining and not giving logical arguments) that this games isnt what you want it to be. Ppl dont give a ... what you like or no . Game isnot good / bad if it fails at what it is doing , in which case DAO doesnt fail at all.
If you dont like how Bioware are doing theyr games - dont play them. But dont say they are doing them bad .
well I dont know, I cant pick between the two based on the first game in the series. Sequels arent even that great at times. I guess Ill go with the witcher 2, it just seems like a sure thing when they are cancelling the console version since it limits them too much.

I did that because your reply on my first post was of the same form. So since the conversation can logically go nowhere and there is no argument, we fell into "personal opinions" Also, no i wont buy another bioware game if its the same thing all over. I enjoyed kotor and neverwinte nights, also jade empire. Nwn2 and Kotor 2 from osbidian were ok. I also briefly played baldur's gate and i alsp played mass effect which felt like a lesser experiance like bioware lost their touch or run out of ideas. Instead of evolving in gameplay, story deepness and level design and level size, they lowered the expactasions. Since bioware is going on the milikg train and things that its wise to make another dragon age when there is no really a reason apart from making money, they just fell into the train of of the other developers that milking their games and reboot them, etc, etc, etc. Now i liked dragon age but this whole thing feels like they endesly doing the same thing. In other words some people got tired of a specif game genre, i got tired of bioware rpgs. Dont you ever tired if you play the same genre all the time? I for one would like to try other rpgs with diffirent story and ideas and not another bioware dialogue rpg with the same story elements all their previous games have. Ofcourse you ask "Why not Dragon age 2" I liked the first game alot, but i just dont think there is a need for a sequel just yet. Its like they clearly say that they want us to keep buying and buying instead of making a great sequel when the time is right. Please Log In to post.
