That review pretty much confirms the weaknesses I figured it would have. As the summary line at the top says, "Spore is undoubtedly an amazing accomplishment; it's just not quite an amazing game."
not all that surprising, really. it was bound to get good but nowhere near top scores. will wright's games tend to be too ambitious and novel, so a lot of wrinkles need to be ironed out before they receive critical acclaim.
